Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear and consistent position agreeing that science's primary aim should be improving people's lives. The ideas are relevant, focusing on how technological and medical advancements save time and make daily routines easier. However, the development of these ideas tends to be repetitive and somewhat superficial. For instance, the concepts of saving time and making life easier are restated across multiple paragraphs without being significantly extended through deeper analysis or more varied concrete examples. While the writer does mention robots and medical diagnosis, these examples lack specific detail. Consequently, the task response sits comfortably at Band 6, as it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, but these ideas remain under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct points, such as general daily technologies versus medical advancements. However, the management of cohesive devices and logical progression reveals notable weaknesses. Phrases like 'Another compelling reason why I agree with this staement because' display awkward transitional phrasing and grammatical linking errors. Furthermore, referencing and cohesion within paragraphs can become mechanical and repetitive ('The primary reason why I agree...', 'Another compelling reason why I agree...'). While the overall flow remains understandable, the faulty cohesive devices and lack of sophisticated progression restrict the score to Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common terms such as 'advancement', 'diagnosis', and 'beneficial'. However, there are frequent lexical inaccuracies, inappropriate word choices, and spelling errors throughout the text. Examples include 'science innovation' instead of 'scientific innovation', 'facilites' and 'reborts' (spelling errors), 'prevent our time' instead of 'save our time', and 'feild' instead of 'field'. Additionally, phrases like 'making our lives easier by perfoming difficult task within second' demonstrate noticeable limitations in collocation and word formation. Because these errors are frequent and occasionally cause slight confusion for the reader, the lexical resource is best evaluated at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are numerous basic and complex grammatical errors that recur throughout the response, including tense and agreement issues such as 'Science and its application become a vital part', missing articles ('in medical feild', 'with advance technologies'), and faulty subordinate clauses ('Another compelling reason why I agree with this staement because science technologies making our lives easier'). Punctuation and spacing issues are also present, such as 'In conclusion. I strongly agree'. While the meaning is generally communicated despite these frequent errors, the high density of structural inaccuracies prevents the response from reaching Band 6.0.
