Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt directly by agreeing with the statement and attempting to present examples across various sectors such as health, IT, and fisheries. The writer maintains a clear position throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While specific examples are introduced, such as the PDE6A gene and next-generation sequencing, the explanation lacks full expansion and depth. Furthermore, there are noticeable generalisations, and the conclusion is very brief. Overall, the response addresses all parts of the task in a basic manner, fitting the criteria for Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The essay displays some organisational structure with an introduction, body paragraphs focusing on different sectors, and a brief conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression and logical flow between sentences. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or missing entirely (e.g., abrupt transitions between paragraphs like 'in the field of IT' and 'in othe field like fisheries'). Paragraphing is poorly handled, with several ideas lumped together or running on without proper punctuation or separation. Referencing is also sometimes unclear. These features align closely with the Band 4.0 descriptor for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with basic lexical items recurrently appearing throughout the text (e.g., 'improve', 'people's lives', 'science'). There are multiple spelling errors ('amibition', 'totatly', 'igree', 'heathy', 'improvment', 'sequancing', 'innovation', 'artifical', 'desgin', 'prepartion', 'competative', 'othe', 'protien', 'nigth', 'imprvement') and word-choice errors that strain the reader and occasionally impede communication. Although the writer attempts some less common technical vocabulary ('molecular biologist', 'genetic disorder', 'next generation sequancing'), the high frequency of errors places this firmly at Band 4.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple or poorly constructed complex structures that are frequently faulty. There is an absence of correct punctuation and capitalization in many parts of the essay, leading to run-on sentences and fragmented thoughts (e.g., 'The amibition and main objective of the science to make the people life bette and improve.'). Errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles are extremely frequent throughout the text and frequently distort meaning. This level of grammatical control corresponds to a Band 4.0.
