Student answer (Band 5.0)
IT IS OFTEN ARGUED THAT THE PARAMOUNT AIM OF SCIENCE SHOULD BE TO IMPROVE PEOPLE'S LIVES. WHILE, THERE MAY BE SOME ARGUEMENTS AGAINST THIS VIEW, I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT BECAUSE SCIENCE ALREADY DONE A MAJOR EFFECT ON LIFE AND SHOULD BE MORE TO IMPEOVE THEIR DOMINACE.
THE PRIMARY REASON FOR MY POSITION IS THAT CHILDERN ARE GETTING ADVANCE LEVEL OF KNOWLADGE ABOUT SCIENCE IN SCHOOL. IN ADDITION TO THAT TECHNOLOGY IS ALSO DOING A SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN SCIENCE. WE SHOULD ALSO ENCOURGE THE CHILDERN TO SEE SCIENCE FICTION MOVIES. IN TODAY'S MODERN WORLD, THERE ARE A LOT OF MEDICAL ISSUES THAT ARE CURING WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF MODERN SCIENCE.
A FURTHER POINT TO CONSIDER IS THAT THE SCIENCE FACILITAE PEOPLE IN ALMOST EVERY ASPECT OF LIFE. IN PARTICULAR, IT HELPS PEOPLE TO TO GET GOOD MEDICENE FROM CERTIFIED DOCTORS. SCIENCE ALLEVIATE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS OF LIFE. FOR EXAMPLE, DURING ANCIENT TIME PEOPLE GIVE BIRTH TO THEIR CHILDERN ON THEIR ON BUT NOW THERE ARE FULL TRAINED DOCTORS WHO ARE DOING THIS. THEREFORE, MANY PROBLEMS ARE FIXED NOW. DOCTERS ALSO DO SURGRIES ONLINE BY CONVEYING THEIR COMMAND TO AVAILABLE DOCTORS AT THAT TIME. PEOPLE BELIEVE ON MODERN SCIENCE.
IN CONCLUSION, I STRONGLY AGREE WITH THE VIEW THAT SCIENCE SHOULD BE ENHANCE THE WAY OF PEOPLE LIVES. THIS IS BECUASE THE ADVANCEMENT IN THE FEILD OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ALSO DONE A LOT OF PRACTICAL ADVANCEMENT IN SCIENCE. EITHER THE FEILD OF AGRICULTURE OR HEALTH SCIENCE DEMONSTRATE IT VERY WELL.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response presents a clear position agreeing with the prompt that the main aim of science should be to improve people's lives. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, relying heavily on medical examples like doctors and surgeries without exploring other areas of science. Furthermore, the essay is 1 words short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively affects the overall Task Achievement score as the word count penalty must be applied. Sentences such as 'SCIENCE ALREADY DONE A MAJOR EFFECT ON LIFE AND SHOULD BE MORE TO IMPEOVE THEIR DOMINACE' show a rudimentary approach to addressing the prompt. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to fully develop well-extended ideas across various domains and strictly meet the minimum word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, which provides a basic structural framework. However, the progression of ideas lacks clear logical flow. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as starting paragraphs with abrupt transitions like 'THE PRIMARY REASON FOR MY POSITION' and 'A FURTHER POINT TO CONSIDER', which do not smoothly integrate the supporting points. Referencing and pronoun use are occasionally unclear, and repetitive sentence structures disrupt the overall textual unity. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion requires significant improvement to achieve a clearer logical progression throughout the response.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts to use some less common vocabulary, such as 'SUBSTANTIAL', 'ASSISTANCE', and 'ALLEVIGATE', but this is marred by frequent spelling and word-choice errors, including 'ARGUEMENTS', 'IMPEOVE', 'DOMINACE', 'KNOWLADGE', 'ENCOURGE', 'FACILITAE', 'MEDICENE', 'DOCTERS', and 'SURGRIES'. These errors sometimes cause difficulty for the reader and reveal a lack of precision. To improve, the student must focus on accurate spelling, correct word forms, and expanding their vocabulary range with appropriate collocation and style.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammatical range is restricted, consisting primarily of simple sentences and flawed attempts at complex structures. There are frequent and systematic grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense and verb-form mistakes such as 'SCIENCE ALREADY DONE A MAJOR EFFECT', 'ISSUES THAT ARE CURING', and 'PEOPLE GIVE BIRTH... ON THEIR ON BUT NOW THERE ARE FULL TRAINED DOCTORS'. Punctuation is also problematic, notably the comma splice in 'WHILE, THERE MAY BE SOME ARGUEMENTS'. These errors frequently cause strain and difficulty for the reader, placing the response firmly in the Band 5 category for grammar.
