Science and technology has developed to a great extent in past few years and still it's going on. We as people use technology in our daily routine aswell which makes it an essential part of our lives. Many discoveries where made, many inventions which has aided in making our lives easier today.
Today technology has developed at that extent that one can make a call from a part of country to another through mobile phone and is able to see each other in real time. Science and technology has helped us in many ways where we discoverd about using of sunlight, water, wind such natural resources to generate electricity. Cars use batteries for its locomotion which has reduced the amount of gas emition in the atmosphere and aid in preventing global warming. Technology has made us decrease the use of combustibles which inlude coal for electricity or petroleum for cars and vehicles. In these ways technology has helped us improve our lives and should be doing so.
But many people use the technology for wrong purposes too such as online scams, online harrasement etc. These people use technology for their own benefits and are a danger to the society. So as said these people do not imrove but ruin innocent people's lives due to which children and young teens take wrong steps in their lives.
To conclude I would say that the only purpose of Science should be to help people and make our lives easier and not vice-versa.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether the main aim of science should be to improve people's lives, presenting a clear position that science should indeed focus on helping people and making lives easier. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. The text discusses positive developments like electricity generation and reducing emissions, and touches briefly on negative uses such as online scams and harassment. Furthermore, the response falls short of the word count requirement, containing only 249 words against the 250-word minimum, which leads to a slight penalty under this criterion. To achieve a higher band score, the writer needs to extend and support their ideas more fully with richer examples and ensure the full word count is met.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. However, the logical progression is hindered by simplistic transitions and slightly disjointed paragraphing. While paragraphing is attempted, the division of ideas—such as lumping various technological advancements together and then abruptly shifting to criminal uses of technology—lacks smooth flow. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes repetitive, such as 'today technology has developed' and 'in these ways technology has helped us'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the dangling phrase 'So as said these people do not imrove'. Overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow, but cohesion is mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication, but it remains somewhat limited and repetitive. The student uses terms such as 'technology', 'lives', and 'help' frequently throughout the text. There are also several lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'gas emition' (emissions), 'at that extent' (to such an extent), 'discoverd about using of sunlight' (discovered how to use sunlight), and 'imrove' (improve). While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary like 'locomotion' and 'combustibles', inaccuracies in collocation and spelling prevent the lexical score from reaching higher bands. The range is minimally adequate for the task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Cars use batteries for its locomotion which has reduced the amount of gas emition...' However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are noticeable errors in subject-verb agreement and tense usage, including 'Science and technology has developed' (have developed), 'Many discoveries where made' (were made), and 'inventions which has aided' (have aided). Punctuation and article usage also need attention, such as missing articles before nouns ('from a part of country to another'). Complex structures are often faulty, and errors require the reader to occasionally reread sentences to grasp the intended meaning.
