Student answer (Band 5.5)
Today is the era of technology and science. While there are several purposes of technological advancements, I believe the most important aim of science should be to improve peopel's lives.
First and foremost, there are numerous mindblowing inventions of science. One of them is technology. Technology has become an integral part of our lives. Despite its negative aspects, no one can deny its importance. Day by day, inventions of science are rapidly increasing because of their significant importance in daily lives of individuals. Some reasons for these inventions is to enhance innovation and advancement. Its human nature to face new challenges and experience things that are relatively new and non-comparitive. So science is introducing new products to the public.
Moreover, the most crucial purpose of science should be to improve the lives of individuals. In past times when there was no specific inventions oin every department, life was extremely challenging. In comparison, life has become so easy because of science. But it is also affecting the lives in negative way, as people are having more sedentary lifestyles. They do not want to perform any kind of manual or physical work. They prefer to do some easy works. For example, the invention of AI and robots is working on place of humans, making human beings more lazy.
In conclusion, although there are disadvantages of technological advancements, helping human beings should be the basic objective of science. However, there should be some limitations to help preventing the situation to become even more worse.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The student addresses the prompt by discussing whether the main aim of science should be to improve human lives, presenting a clear position in the introduction and concluding remarks. The ideas are generally relevant, but some points are slightly repetitive or under-developed. For instance, the paragraph discussing technology and innovation touches on human nature and challenges, but the connection back to improving people's lives is sometimes obscured by broad generalizations. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the depth of idea development places this response firmly at Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilized, though some paragraph internal organization feels somewhat disjointed, such as shifting abruptly between the benefits of technology and sedentary lifestyles in the third paragraph. Cohesive devices are used, but they can be somewhat mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', 'In conclusion'). Referencing is mostly clear, but the logical progression between sentences occasionally falters, resulting in a Band 6 performance for cohesion and coherence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases like 'technological advancements', 'sedentary lifestyles', and 'integral part'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors ('peopel's', 'oin', 'preventing the situation to become even more worse') and awkward word choices ('some easy works', 'working on place of humans'). These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5, as precision and spelling control are inconsistent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical inaccuracies are frequent throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Some reasons for these inventions is'), awkward prepositional use ('working on place of humans'), and structural errors ('to help preventing'). While these errors rarely completely obscure the intended meaning, they are persistent enough to prevent the response from achieving a higher band, making Band 5.0 the most accurate descriptor.
