Student answer (Band 4.5)

Today most of the people says that the first periority of science should be to help improve the life of human. and I strongly agree with this statement because science id invented by humans and humans invent it to get help or to solve different problems that a human have to see.

Firstly I completely agree with the statement that say the aim of science is to improve human lifestyle the reason of supporting it is the human have invent science to improve the lifestyle by getting help to solve problems and science is helping to improve human lifestyle, For example if we take journey an example of science helping humans in old times people have to travel on foot or on horses which take time like days to finch the journey but with the help of science human have solve this problem by inventing motorbikes and cars with the helps of these machines now the journey on take hours that first take days to travel.

On the other hand according to me it also have some negitive effect of science helping because of scirnce humans have develop missiles and nuclear weapons that they will use on other humans and also other technology that they can use in wars For example human invent engines that they use in cars to travels but they use same engines in tanks and other war machines to destroy humans that the reason people argue instent of make life worst the aim of sciense should to impriove the human life not destroy it.

In conclusion, the sciense is invented to improve humans life and it is improving it by time but humans also use science to make humans life worst taht depend on human should they use the science to improve people life or make it worst.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear, although somewhat repetitive, position that science should primarily improve human lives, while also acknowledging potential negative consequences such as warfare technology. The student attempts to support their position with examples like transportation (motorbikes and cars) versus weapons (missiles and tanks). However, the ideas are often under-developed and lack depth or sophisticated examples. The reasoning tends to circle back on itself without introducing fully extended arguments. Consequently, the response aligns best with Band 5.0 for Task Achievement, as it covers the prompt but remains limited and repetitive in its development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The essay displays some basic organization, featuring an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, there is a clear lack of overall logical progression due to very poor punctuation and run-on sentences. For instance, the second body paragraph consists of a single massive sentence containing multiple ideas without appropriate full stops or transitional markers ('Firstly I completely agree with the statement that say the aim of science is to improve human lifestyle the reason of supporting it is...'). Cohesive devices are either missing, repetitive, or inaccurate, and paragraphing is hindered by poor internal structure. This places the response firmly at Band 4.0 for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on words like 'science', 'human', 'life', 'improve', and 'worst'. There are frequent word-choice and spelling errors, such as 'periority' instead of priority, 'id' instead of is, 'negitive' instead of negative, 'scirnce' instead of science, and 'taht' instead of that. Less common lexical items are attempted unsuccessfully or incorrectly, and the limited range causes noticeable strain for the reader. Therefore, the lexical resource corresponds to a Band 4.0 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The student uses a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences strung together with conjunctions or comma splices. There is a near-complete absence of accurate complex sentence forms. Errors in grammar, tense consistency, and punctuation are extremely frequent and often obscure the meaning, such as missing subject-verb agreement ('science id invented', 'human have invent') and lack of basic terminal punctuation. The severity and frequency of these errors place this criterion at Band 4.0.
