Science plays a important role in modern society, and many people believe that its primary purpose should be to improve life. I agree with this view, as scientific research can contribute significantly to better health, greater convenience and a safer environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether science's primary aim should be improving people's lives and supports it with relevant arguments. The introduction establishes your viewpoint, and body paragraphs explore healthcare and technological convenience, successfully meeting the requirements for this level. However, some ideas remain under-developed rather than fully explored. For instance, the mention of coronavirus vaccines in the second paragraph is brief and lacks deeper extension, while the sudden pivot to device maintenance in the fourth paragraph feels slightly disjointed and underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, you would need to extend your supporting examples more fully and maintain a consistent depth of discussion throughout all main body paragraphs without introducing abrupt, tangential points.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear progression of ideas from healthcare benefits to convenience and finally to the nuances of basic research. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to divide the essay into logical sections, moving from the introduction to distinct body themes and a final conclusion. Nevertheless, cohesion is occasionally mechanical or faulty. Phrases such as 'also the help of that found the vaccines of corona virus which is saved many people's life' disrupt the logical flow and referencing between sentences. Furthermore, transition words between paragraphs could be managed more flexibly to ensure a smoother, more natural progression of thought. Enhancing the clarity of referencing and ensuring smoother transitions would elevate the organizational quality of your writing.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'scientific research', 'fundamental studies', and 'convenient and efficient'. However, there are notable lexical shortcomings that prevent a higher score, including word choice and collocation errors such as writing 'a important role' instead of 'an important role', and awkward phrasing like 'saved many people's life'. Additionally, there are minor repetitive patterns and occasional word form inaccuracies, such as 'This development shows' when referring to plural concepts. Communication remains clear despite these flaws, but to achieve a stronger lexical profile, you need to incorporate a wider variety of precise vocabulary and demonstrate greater accuracy in collocations and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, using structures such as 'Medical researchers have developed...' and 'Developments in information technology have transformed...'. You show good control over many basic sentence patterns, and your punctuation and grammar errors rarely impede communication, which aligns well with this level. However, there are noticeable grammatical errors distributed throughout the text, including article omissions and misuse, subject-verb agreement issues as seen in 'This development shows', and flawed relative clauses such as 'which is used for healthcare and for other field'. To move up to the next band, you should aim to produce a higher proportion of error-free complex sentences and ensure rigorous control over verb forms, plurals, and prepositions within complex grammatical patterns.
