Student answer (Band 5.5)

The main purpose of this science find to save lost of people lifes. I belived that science are improvening day by day lifes, there are allots of feasility appears in sciense likes machines are developed yet for MRI, CT-scan in current scenarios. These examples demonstrate that scientific advancement can have a profound impact on both individuals and society.

I strongly agreed due to aim of science there are allot of lifes saved and some of Covid 19 pandamenic stiautions are come they have developed vaccations fo this decrease and we saved lotts of people life. So science are improved the day to day lifestyle issue, some of the imergencies happened in the daily routine. Peoples are affected heart attack, Injuries and emargencies OT improved compare to currect scenarios, Although it can also contribute to knowledge that has no immediate practical application.Advances in medical research have led to vaccines, antibiotics, diagnostic equipment and life-saving treatments, enabling people to prevent or manage diseases that were once fatal.

Certain injuries are also recovered with quick solutions. I belived with this statments about the sciensce and I have shows you quicks examples are reasons about this science. However, not every scientific discovery needs to produce an immediate practical benefit. Fundamental research in areas such as astronomy and theoretical physics expands humanity’s understanding of the universe and may eventually lead to unexpected technological applications. Therefore, scientific knowledge should not be judged solely by its short-term usefulness.

I concluded that humans lifes should be regarded science because its social value is ultimately reflected in human well-being. Nevertheless, fundamental research should also be supported because its long-term benefits cannot always be predicted.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position regarding whether the primary aim of science should be to improve lives, which is a strength that allows the essay to sit comfortably above baseline requirements. Ideas such as medical advancements, vaccines, and the balance between practical applications and fundamental research are introduced. However, some parts of the response are more fully developed than others, while certain arguments suffer from under-development and lack sufficient extension. For instance, the mention of emergency medical scenarios is introduced abruptly without being fully fleshed out with clear examples, and the transition between practical benefits and fundamental research occasionally lacks depth. To reach higher levels, the student needs to fully develop all main ideas with more detailed explanations and relevant examples rather than simply listing concepts.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing that the writer has attempted to organise their thoughts logically. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always clear, which affects the smooth progression of ideas. For example, transitional phrases like 'I strongly agreed due to aim of science' and 'Certain injuries are also recovered' feel abrupt and disrupt the natural flow between sentences. Paragraphing is used, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure that sentences link together more fluidly and that logical relationships between ideas are explicitly and smoothly marked.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that frequently cause difficulty for the reader. There are numerous word choice, collocation, and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'science find', 'lost of people lifes', 'improvening', 'allots of feasility', 'sciense', 'vaccations', and 'imergencies'. These inaccuracies reveal a restricted control over word formation and spelling. While the student attempts to use some less common subject-specific vocabulary like 'diagnostic equipment' and 'fundamental research', the persistent lexical errors hinder smooth reading. To improve, the student needs to build a more accurate vocabulary base, focus heavily on correct spelling, and learn standard word collocations instead of translating terms directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The grammatical range is limited, consisting of basic structures alongside attempts at complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, articles, and plurals that cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'science are improvening', 'some of Covid 19 pandamenic stiautions are come', 'Peoples are affected heart attack', and 'humans lifes should be regarded science'. Simple sentence forms are managed with varying success, but complex structures often break down due to faulty syntax and incorrect prepositions. To move up to the next band, the writer must demonstrate better control over basic grammatical agreements, improve tense consistency, and ensure that complex sentence patterns are constructed accurately without frequent errors.
