Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, many individuls believe that science and innovation prioritise human benefits and focus on improving people's live. I strongly agree with this statement. I will dicuss my point of view in upcoming paragraph with a logical conclusion.
To start with, there many reasons associated with it. The first and formost point is the medical benefits it that scientific discoveries provide. To explain this, medicine is constantly developing and offering new treatment for perviously incurable disease, this largely due to the noticable efforts put into research. For instance, when the 2020 pandemic started it was a catastrophe millions of become died due to a lack of proper vaccines. However, in a year these were multiple vaccinesa that helped reduce the mortality rate significantly. Moreover, many disease that were incurable in the past are become manageable or even curable after many breakthrought in different fileds od medicine. For example, tuberculosis was considered one of the deadlist disease in history just two centuries ago and now due to vaccines being available or oblisatory mortality rates have dropped drastically.
Moving on, the improvment in the agriculture field. To justify this, many scientific breakthrough have lead to unprecedented cahnges in the agriculture industry ranging from improving crop to protection of crop from insects. However, many years ago famines claimed millions of lives due to proper conditions for crop to grow or due to insects devouring fields pf crops that took months to grow on the contarty nowadays crop ar biologically engreed to withstand harsh weather condition or unsafe rable soil. Which save millions of life over the years.
In conclusion, although the numerous point is that its helpf to provide vaccines and other benefical medicines also improve the agriculture field. However, it also save million of life over the years.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, which fully satisfies the requirements of the lower band while showing glimpses of the higher band. The writer explores how science improves people's lives through medical advancements and agricultural developments. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the medical paragraph contains well-chosen examples like the 2020 pandemic and tuberculosis, whereas the agriculture paragraph becomes somewhat repetitive and under-developed when discussing crop protection and biological engineering. Overall, the ideas are relevant to the prompt, but extending the secondary body paragraph with more precise examples would elevate the task response further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
There is a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The writer attempts to logically sequence ideas, starting with medical benefits and moving on to agricultural improvements. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, relying on repetitive transitional phrases such as 'To start with,' 'To explain this,' and 'To justify this.' Furthermore, referencing is not always clear, as seen in the concluding paragraph where the summary is disjointed and features abrupt sentence fragments that disrupt the smooth progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs requires tighter organizational control.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing a minimally sufficient range to communicate basic ideas about science and innovation. The writer attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'catastrophe,' 'mortality rate,' and 'biologically engineered,' but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling, such as 'individuls,' 'live' instead of 'lives,' 'deadlist,' and 'oblisatory.' These lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips occur frequently throughout the text. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to expand their range of vocabulary, use less common lexical items with greater precision, and eliminate basic spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying on a mix of simple and complex sentences, though attempts at complex sentences are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors involving subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence fragments, such as 'millions of become died,' 'there many reasons,' and 'Which save millions of life over the years.' Punctuation and phrasing errors also cause some difficulty for the reader. While communication is generally maintained despite these issues, achieving a higher band requires a wider variety of error-free complex structures and much tighter control over basic grammatical agreements and sentence boundaries.
