Student answer (Band 5.0)
Science is playing an important role in developing our lives. It is claimed that the most important aim of science should be to improve people's lives. I completely agree with this statement. I am going to discuss it in detail.
The most important ambition of science is to improve individual's lives because if someone do some researches for individual's lives he cannot do any experiment wrong which is against different research policies. Additionally, when science starts to work for people, it will create different opportunities for comfortable life and peaceful life. Furthermore, all the researches of the past which were only be conducted for humans is now playing a crucial role in their lives. So, if science should work for the future facilities we could take benefit from it in the present and also in the future. For example, the experiments in the past which were done for the people's lives were also effective in the past and in the present, such as the study of cells, atoms, and microscopic researches in the past is now helping scientists to cure different diseases.
However, there are many different reasons why it is the most important aim of science to improve local's lives. Firstly, if science work with the ambition of improving people's lives they can not do any kind of discovery which may be unexpected for peaceful and healthy lives. Secondly, if science should work with positive aim nobody can do any experiment which is against human rights because he have to do research with recent blueprints and it is only possible if science should work only with aim which is effective for people's lives.
To conclude, if science should work with positive aims it help different other researches to work in the right way for people. But if science should not prefer to work for resident's lives we might have to face various unwanted results. Therefore, improving individual's lives should always be the first priority of science.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a position that is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. While you state your agreement with the statement that science should improve people's lives, the ideas presented to support this are limited and under-developed. For instance, statements such as 'if someone do some researches for individual's lives he cannot do any experiment wrong' are generalized and lack clear elaboration or concrete real-world context beyond a brief mention of cells and atoms. Additionally, 10 words copied from the task prompt were not counted in your word total. To achieve a higher score, you need to present well-developed ideas with clear, relevant examples that fully explore the different facets of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organization with clear paragraph breaks dividing your introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, but the response lacks an overall logical progression. Cohesive devices are often inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, such as the repetitive use of transitional phrases like 'Firstly,' 'Secondly,' and 'To conclude,' which tend to feel mechanical rather than naturally driving the argument forward. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as ambiguous pronoun use ('it', 'they', 'he') making it difficult to track whether you are referring to scientists, research, or people. To improve, focus on ensuring that each sentence logically builds on the previous one and use a wider variety of cohesive links more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'developing our lives' instead of 'improving our lives', 'individual's lives' instead of 'individuals' lives' or 'human well-being', and 'local's lives' or 'resident's lives' where broader terms would be more appropriate. Additionally, word choices like 'future facilities' do not accurately convey your intended meaning. To move to a higher band, you need to use a wider and more precise range of vocabulary, demonstrating better control over word choice, style, and collocation without causing difficulty for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your writing displays a very limited range of sentence structures, and your attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors involving subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'if someone do some researches', 'if science work'), incorrect verb forms, and tense inconsistencies. Punctuation and article usage also need closer attention. For example, expressions like 'because he have to do research' contain agreement errors that cause noticeable difficulty for the reader. To improve your grammar score, aim to increase your control over complex sentence patterns, ensure correct verb tenses and agreement throughout, and reduce basic structural errors.
