Student answer (Band 5.0)
Developments of science are becoming an increasingly pervasive phenomena in the contemporary epoch, and a growing number of individuals have exhibited a marked preference for this trend. Although, I compelety concur with this notion because it made the human life easier.
At the outset, developments related to science confers a plethora of substancial benefits for humans. A considerable proportion of individuals have embarked upon convenient options by adopting the tools developed by science, which indirectly demostrates the advancements in technology. Then in turn, it allows individual to work with heighted efficiency and optimal effectiveness. For Instance; Tesla has introduced a self driving car, which not only drives the car but also share data with other tesla vehicles. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response responds to the task only minimally, which is reflected in the severe under-length issue. The text contains only 155 words, falling well short of the mandatory 250-word minimum requirement. While the writer attempts to present a position agreeing with the prompt, the ideas are extremely limited and remain largely under-developed. The second body paragraph starts to introduce a relevant example regarding Tesla and self-driving cars, but the essay abruptly cuts off mid-sentence at the beginning of a third paragraph. Consequently, the main parts of the task are addressed only partially, resulting in a minimal response where the argument is left incomplete and unsupported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation in the opening and the first body paragraph, but the essay lacks a clear overall progression because it ends prematurely. Cohesive devices are sometimes used, such as 'At the outset', 'Then in turn', and 'For Instance', but these connectors are used rather mechanically and inappropriately in places. For example, 'Then in turn' creates a disjointed transition between sentences. Furthermore, referencing is not always clear, and paragraphing is disrupted by the incomplete ending of the text, preventing any logical flow through a proper conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used represents a limited range that is minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common lexical items, such as 'pervasive phenomena', 'contemporary epoch', 'confer a plethora', and 'lucrative oppurtunities', but these attempts are frequently marred by spelling mistakes like 'compelety', 'substancial', 'demostrates', 'heighted', and 'oppurtunities'. There are also awkward word choices and collocation errors, such as 'bring out themselves from their routine work' instead of freeing themselves from routine work, which causes some difficulty and strain for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writing shows a limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty. There are noticeable errors in agreement, articles, and prepositions, such as 'Developments of science are becoming an increasingly pervasive phenomena' (plural/singular mismatch) and 'allow individual to work' (missing plural article). Punctuation errors are also present, notably the incorrect semicolon usage in 'For Instance; Tesla'. While some simple structures are controlled, frequent errors and awkward phrasing persist throughout the short text, though they do not completely obscure the core meaning.
