Student answer (Band 5.5)

The discoveries in science is always used for the better living for the human beings. Mostly people believe that, the most significant motive of science should be to provide benefits to people's lives. I strongly agree with that statement, because new invention is could be make for people life easy and also betterment for human.

Firstly, science new invention should be make to keep people's need in mind. This is because people had done so much in the past to live the hard life when no there was no one availble to make their life easy, but as science is growing their aim should mostly for the betterment of people's life. Furthermore, as the time passes by the growth of science is increasing, for example, if we talk about the internet which is most important gift the science has given in human's history now everythhing is available in one click away. These kind of invention is very essential for the people's lives.

Secondly, science is always doing everything for people to make their daily life easy. The invention of electricity is the greatest gift the science has given to humans, where now we can use the new technologies like washing machine, computers, and many other essentials thanks to science. For example, if science has not discover the electricity the human could have not reached to a point they are right now.

In conclusion, science aim was always been to make the people's lives beneficial

and convenient throughtout the time. I strongly agre, with the statement as well because without keeping people in mind there is no need to develop a thing which is could not give benefit to human.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You clearly answer the question and maintain a consistent position: “I strongly agree” appears in the introduction and conclusion. Your examples of the internet and electricity are relevant and help explain how science can make daily life easier. However, the argument is narrower than the prompt invites: both body paragraphs focus mainly on convenience, and the claim that science “should” prioritise improving lives is not explored in much depth. The internet example is more specific, while the electricity paragraph largely repeats the same benefit without explaining wider effects or considering any qualification. To strengthen the response, develop each example with clearer consequences and explain why improving lives should take priority over other possible aims of science.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from the broad claim to examples, so the reader can follow your position. However, linking is sometimes mechanical, and connections between sentences are not always clear. For instance, “Furthermore, as the time passes by the growth of science is increasing” repeats the general idea rather than advancing the internet example. The conclusion also restates the main point without drawing together the two examples. Use linking phrases to show cause and effect, and make each paragraph develop one distinct reason; clearer references to how each example supports your argument would improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “internet,” “electricity,” “technologies,” and “invention,” and the main meaning is usually understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “people’s lives,” “make … easy,” and “betterment.” Some word choices and collocations are unnatural, such as “the greatest gift the science has given to humans” and “everythhing is available in one click away.” There are also spelling errors, including “availble,” “throughtout,” and “agre,” which reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise expressions for discussing scientific benefits, such as “improve quality of life,” “enhance access to information,” and “transform daily routines,” and check spelling and natural word combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because” and a conditional example beginning “if science has not discover the electricity.” However, some sentence structures and verb forms are inaccurate, and these errors sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “The discoveries in science is,” “new invention is could be make,” and “if science has not discover.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence construction in phrases such as “the growth of science is increasing” and “the human could have not reached.” Practise forming accurate past and conditional clauses, and check subject–verb agreement and verb patterns. More reliable control of these structures would allow your ideas to come across more smoothly.
