Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you completely agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you give relevant examples involving AI, everyday technology and medical treatment. The discussion of laser eye surgery is the most specific support, showing how scientific advances can make treatment easier. However, the ideas are mostly asserted rather than explained, and the AI example is mentioned without showing clearly how it improves lives. The response also does not fully develop the question of whether this is science’s most important aim, rather than simply one benefit of science. The required minimum length is not met, which limits the opportunity to develop your reasons. Extend each example with a clear explanation of its impact and address the “most important” aspect directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction states your view, the body gives examples, and a conclusion restates your position. Paragraphing also separates the general benefits of technology from medical advances. However, progression within the body paragraphs is difficult to follow because several ideas are crowded into long sentences, and links between them are sometimes unclear. For example, the discussion moves from AI to phones and the internet, then to hospitals and eye surgery without consistently explaining how each point supports the central argument. Connectors such as “Furthermore” and “Firstly” are used, but they do not always create a clear sequence. Use one main idea per paragraph, develop it in a logical order, and make references between sentences explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “scientific research,” “treatment,” “internet,” and “laser operation,” so the reader can identify the subject and examples. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “technology,” “science,” and “comfortable.” Frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word choices also make parts of the response difficult to understand, such as “techenology,” “modrenized,” “envirmental disease,” and “convinient.” Some combinations are unnatural, including “technology are sharply climbed” and “the benefits are too much only.” Build a more accurate set of topic phrases and check spelling carefully. Prefer precise expressions such as “technological advances” and “medical conditions,” and use them in grammatically natural combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and you use clauses to introduce examples and reasons. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns as well as in longer attempts. Examples include “It is often argue” and “should be improve,” where verb forms are incorrect, and “the techenology of science are,” where subject–verb agreement is faulty. Several sentences run together without clear punctuation, especially the sentence beginning “Nowadays the techenology…,” making relationships between ideas hard to follow. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add one subordinate clause at a time and check each sentence for a complete verb and appropriate punctuation.
