Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify a relevant general idea—that science can make life easier—and give examples involving farming and access to facilities. However, the response does not clearly state how far you agree with the specific claim that improving people’s lives should be science’s most important aim. The farming example is difficult to follow and is not explained enough to show how it supports your position; the later reference to science’s “bad effect on health” is also left undeveloped. The response therefore addresses the topic only minimally, with limited support for its ideas. It is also 28 words below the required minimum. To strengthen your answer, state your position directly, develop two relevant reasons with clear examples, and explain the health concern rather than leaving it as a brief contrast.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response through sequencing and contrast, using “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand.” These markers show an effort to connect points, and the discussion remains broadly related to science and human life. However, the ideas do not progress in a clear overall sequence: the account of ploughing and harvesting is hard to follow, and the response moves from farming to general benefits and then to health without explaining the links. Repeated references to “people and many other individuals” also make the writing feel repetitive rather than cohesive. Use separate paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons, and conclusion, and make each paragraph develop one main point with clear links between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “facilities,” “crops,” “canal,” “scientific method,” and “quality,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “people and many other individuals” and “provide facilities.” Some word choices or combinations are unclear, such as “no many facilities can take provide” and “spend beneficial life,” which make it harder to understand the intended meaning. There is also a spelling error in “indivduals.” Build a more precise set of words for discussing scientific benefits and risks, and check that verbs and nouns combine naturally. For example, describe how technology “increases agricultural productivity” rather than relying on repeated general references to facilities.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example with “because” and “when,” and you use some simple sentence forms that communicate the broad topic. However, control of sentence structure is inconsistent, and several clauses are incomplete or difficult to interpret, as in “people and many other individuals had no many facilities can take provide.” Verb forms and agreement also need attention: “science has play” should use a past participle, while “it was helped” does not fit the intended meaning. Articles, plurals, and punctuation are also inconsistent, with spaces missing after full stops and commas. Practise writing clear subject–verb–object sentences first, then combine them with accurate subordinate clauses. Proofread each sentence for tense, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
