Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You present a clear position in agreement with the statement and give two relevant reasons: science supports health education and disease prevention, and technology makes monitoring health easier. Examples such as vaccines, blood-pressure machines and blood-sugar monitors help connect your claims to people’s lives. This addresses the task, but the discussion is not equally developed throughout. The first paragraph includes broad claims about university studies and a Harvard study, yet it does not explain what the study found or how it demonstrates science’s impact. The technology paragraph is more concrete, though it could explain the wider benefit to patients. To strengthen the response, develop each example with a specific consequence and clarify whether improving lives should be science’s main aim rather than its only aim.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “In conclusion” make the structure easy to follow. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and links between ideas are not always clear. In the first body paragraph, the move from healthy habits to university studies and then to the Harvard example feels abrupt; the relationship between these points needs to be made explicit. Some sentences also repeat the general claim that science improves or makes life easier. Use a wider range of natural links, and organise each paragraph around one main claim followed by explanation and a clearly connected example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “vaccines,” “living standards,” “blood pressure,” “blood sugar levels” and “medical instruments.” These terms help communicate your examples, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is somewhat repetitive, particularly in repeated references to “human life,” “science” and “improve.” Several word choices or collocations are awkward, such as “enhance the known knowledge,” “check out their blood pressure” and “keep on track for normal ranges.” There are also spelling errors, including “annd,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise academic phrasing and check spelling carefully; for example, describe science as “expanding knowledge” and devices as helping people “monitor” health indicators.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “benefits of science education is” has a plural subject with a singular verb, while “healthy habits prevents” has the reverse agreement problem. In “These advancements of technology is,” the subject and verb also do not agree. The opening sentence’s “because, it educate” contains incorrect punctuation and verb agreement, and the final sentence beginning “science advance technology help” has several linked agreement errors. Practise checking each sentence’s subject and verb, and use commas only where they clarify the structure. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to read.
