The most important aim of science should be to improve people’s lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answers and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
People think that the most crucial goal of science should be to improve the live of people. This essy will discuss whether i am agree or not with expressing my own opinions.
To begin with, science should have the only goal of making human live very easy in the shape of bringing new technologies to this world and also there should be more machineries and robotic types models available to assist humans in their daily life activities so that they can get free from there home works and will give that free time to his/her study or to personal life. For example, if there will be a model which can helps females in cooking and ironing clothes etc, this will be a positive effect on humans.
On the other hand, if science will helping humans to improve their lives the people will leave to work hard for their desired goals because technology will already have been doing it for them. peoples will start depending on it and they will not creatiing their own ideas and they will not implement them, this way humans will lose their confident and then they will only relying on it.
Such as, AI and Chatgpt have made everyone who are using their brains very less as compared to those who are not using AI because if there is any issue or any question, we directly go and ask them and do not using our own minds.
In conclusion, from my personal perspectives, science shouldn't improve people lives so that can work hard by their own and they will make their own ideas and also will create personal solution for every problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the question and give a recognisable position: you argue that science should not focus on improving people’s lives because this may reduce effort and independent thinking. The examples of household technology and AI are relevant, and the contrast between benefits and possible drawbacks shows an attempt to consider both sides. However, the position is not fully consistent: the opening says you will discuss whether you agree, while the first body paragraph says science should have the “only goal” of making life easier, before the conclusion argues against that aim. The ideas about dependence and lost confidence are also asserted rather than explained in depth. State your degree of agreement clearly from the introduction and develop each reason with a more precise explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic essay structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. “To begin with” and “On the other hand” help signal the shift between ideas, and the examples generally follow the points they are intended to support. However, progression is weakened by the unclear relationship between the first paragraph’s support for easier living and the conclusion’s opposition to that aim. Some links are mechanical, and references such as “them” in the AI example are not fully clear. The conclusion repeats the argument but does not resolve the contradiction. Make the position consistent across paragraphs, use clearer links between claims and examples, and organise each body paragraph around one main point followed by explanation and evidence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “technologies,” “robotic,” “daily life activities,” “depending,” and “personal perspectives.” There are also attempts to express abstract consequences, such as losing confidence and relying on technology. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make the writing less clear, including “human live,” “machineries,” “home works,” and “create their own ideas.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “essy” and “creatiing” are noticeable. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling and forms; for example, use “people’s lives,” “household chores,” and “develop their own ideas.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional structures such as “if there will be a model” and clauses explaining consequences. This shows an effort to connect ideas rather than relying only on short statements. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. Examples include “if science will helping,” “a model which can helps,” “people will leave to work hard,” and “they will only relying on it.” The opening also has an incomplete or awkward construction in “whether i am agree or not.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. Practise accurate conditional patterns and subject–verb agreement, and proofread each sentence for a complete, correctly formed verb phrase.
