Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the recent years, Science and technology has impacted different aspects of live of people. I strongly believe that it has improved the life of people as well in terms of automating repititive tasks that helps us to focus more on more challenging tasks and it has transformed the way of living as well that has made people life easier.

Firstly, Science and Technology is getting advanced day by day which is transforming our life to a better version. For instance the tasks that required repition from human has become automated now reducing regular human effort in the same task which was time consuming and it required human interaction as well. An example to this is that before in organizations to mark the attendance required human interaction where a person was assigned a duty to mark the entry and exit time of every employee in the company and keep their record in their dairies which was automated by science in recent years. Many punching machines were invented to keep attendance record of each employee that eliminated human involvement and made the task easier and with less errors.

Secondly, Science and technology has transformed our lives and made it easier for us to perform plenty of tasks with ease. For example , the advancement in auto industry has eased our way of travelling from one placre to another , previously people travelled by walking which consumed their lot of time. But now it is easy for human being to travel from one place to another through a car or a bus.

To conclude this, I believe that aim of science has always been to improve our lives and it is successfully doing it for many years now. Science has allowed us to make our life easier and to perform multiple task in a short period of time by automating it or by making it easier than before.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you support this with examples of automated attendance systems and easier travel. These examples are relevant and explain practical benefits, so the response addresses the task. However, the discussion focuses almost entirely on convenience and efficiency. The attendance example is developed in detail, while the transport example is brief, and neither considers other ways science can improve lives, such as healthcare or communication. The essay also does not explore whether improving lives should be science’s most important aim compared with other goals. To strengthen the response, develop a more balanced explanation of why this aim should take priority and extend each example by showing its wider impact on people.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted with “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. The examples generally follow the claims they support, making the main line of argument easy to identify. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical, and the first body paragraph contains a long sequence of details about attendance recording that could be organised more clearly. Some connections between ideas are also awkward, such as “An example to this is that before in organizations,” while the conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than drawing the argument together. Use clearer sentence boundaries and more precise referencing, and make the second body paragraph develop the argument rather than simply add another example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “automated,” “human involvement,” “advancement,” and “transformed,” which helps communicate your examples. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “made it easier,” “tasks,” and “people.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including “live” for “lives,” “repitition,” “placre,” and “dairies” where “diaries” is intended. Some combinations are unnatural, such as “a better version” and “advancement in auto industry.” These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, but they reduce precision. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for benefits and impacts, and check spelling and collocations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses linked with “which” and “where,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. However, some errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction remain. For example, “Science and technology has impacted” needs a plural verb, while “made people life easier” needs a possessive form. The opening sentence also joins several ideas with “and” and “that,” making its structure difficult to follow. In “the tasks that required repition from human has become automated,” the subject and verb do not agree. Aim for more controlled sentence patterns: divide long sentences, check subject–verb agreement, and review articles and possessives. This will improve accuracy while allowing you to retain complex structures.
