Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that the essential target of science is to improves individuals life. In my opinion, science should need to focus on the improvements of idividuals lives but also it should concentrate on other things. One of the main reason is that if science concetate on physics, chemistry, biology on main focus subjects that will also the greatest achivement for all of us.

On the one hand, Science should need to focus on the better medicines, day by day new diseases are coming in the society so, science should need to more focus on these things also make medicines that can everyone afford it and cure the diseases. Moreover, Science should need to more work on Technology that we use on daily basis to commmunicate with our loved ones. So, science should need to focus on these things more.

On the other hand, Science have many other responsibilities ,they should also need to improce machines do more scientoc reserches on agricultre thta helps aot to the people in futureFor instance, Cancer is common diases nowadays so make more authentic medicines that assist alot to the people and machines that can prevent cure disease. Science have many more reaserches on space and finding more ways that can crucial for better upcoming life.

Taking everything into account, science is playing crucial role in our society, it also focus on making our life more easier and present thse things that helps us in education centre and transpotation also in agriculture sectors but also science working on future development by working on space and many more new machinries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a relevant response and state a qualified position: science should improve people’s lives while also pursuing other aims. The discussion of medicines, communication technology, agriculture and space research provides several relevant areas, and the cancer example begins to illustrate the practical value of research. However, the position is not consistently explained: the opening claim that science should focus on physics, chemistry and biology does not clearly show how these subjects relate to your argument. Several points are listed rather than developed, and the essay does not explain why improving lives should be the most important aim, or how other scientific goals compare with it. Clarify your degree of agreement and support each main reason with a specific explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable essay structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a concluding paragraph. This gives the reader some guidance through the discussion. However, the overall progression is not always clear: the first body paragraph focuses on medicines and technology, while the second shifts among machines, agriculture, cancer and space without showing how these ideas connect or contrast. Linking phrases such as “Moreover” and “For instance” are used, but the example does not clearly support the point immediately before it. Some sentences also run together, particularly in the second body paragraph, making relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Organise each paragraph around one main claim and use clearer links between claim, explanation and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “diseases,” “medicines,” “agriculture,” “space” and “transportation,” so the subject is generally identifiable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “science should need to focus” and “people.” Frequent spelling errors, including “idividuals,” “commmunicate,” “agricultre” and “machinries,” make the writing less clear and reduce the accuracy of word choice. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “more authentic medicines” and “better upcoming life.” Build a more precise set of topic expressions and check spelling carefully. For example, use “develop effective treatments” rather than “make medicines,” and “future generations” rather than “upcoming life.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a conditional structure beginning “if science…” and sentences linked with “so” and “that.” However, the longer attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to understand. Examples include “the essential target of science is to improves,” “Science have many other responsibilities,” and “science should need to focus,” which show problems with verb forms and agreement. Missing or incorrect sentence boundaries also affect readability, as in the long second body paragraph beginning “Science have many other responsibilities.” Aim first for accurate, complete sentences: use “science should focus,” “science has,” and “the aim is to improve.” Then practise combining clauses with accurate punctuation and a wider range of structures.
