Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you fully agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you support this with relevant examples from medicine, disease prevention, climate forecasting, and everyday technology. The discussion of vaccines and medical treatment gives the response a clear connection to the question. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim about a Chinese team developing a cure for a virus expected in the future is unclear and needs a reliable, specific explanation. The final paragraph lists benefits such as transport and food packaging but does not show how they improve people’s lives. To develop the response further, explain the significance of each example and address why improving lives should be science’s most important aim, rather than simply one important aim.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, three body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In addition” help readers follow the main points, and the examples generally sit under relevant topic areas. However, the progression is sometimes mechanical, and connections between ideas are not always clear. The opening promises to discuss personal and professional life, but the body does not clearly follow that distinction. The third body paragraph is mainly a list, while the second moves from a future virus to COVID-19 and then climate change without explaining the links. Some references, such as “the same team,” are also unclear. Use more focused topic sentences and explain how each example supports the paragraph’s central idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “medical facilities,” “vaccines,” “climate change outcomes,” and “future predictions.” These choices show that you can discuss several areas of science, and the main meaning is usually understandable. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the message less precise: “in almost every expect,” “research system develop advance,” and “safe food pacaking” are examples. Some expressions are also vague, such as “a lot to us” and “future hazardus,” which limits the precision of your argument. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, such as “scientific research,” “medical advances,” and “weather forecasts.” Aim to use fewer broad claims and select vocabulary that describes the specific benefit being discussed.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “Although” and “as.” This gives the response some structural variety, and readers can generally identify your main position and examples. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. For instance, “I am fully agreed” should be “I fully agree,” while “various vaccines has been developed” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “Although, initially…” is not correctly joined to the main clause, and “how both is personal and professional life” is difficult to interpret grammatically. Practise forming complete sentences and checking each subject against its verb. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
