Student answer (Band 5.5)
Science have a lot a advantages to human life. Now, it has made human life much easier and fast. It is argued that the most important aim of science should be to improve people's lives. I partially agree with the statement.
At first, science have a lot of things for human life like cars, buses, aeroplanes and much much things. These things have made our life faster than past. Science is still working to discover new things and other planets on which the life sholud exist because the population of world is increasing very fast. According to my perspective, the most important discovery of science is mobile phone. it has removed a lot of burden o human. For instance, we can now communicate with any person living in any part of world without any hurdle. It has made a great deal of our work easy. Now, we can do business dealings, reserve any thing, buy or sell anything within minutes. All these things have possible with the help of science. In short, it has great advantages.
In contrast, it does not mean that science just do things to made life esay. There are other purposes of life such as to explain the things which are happening in our daily life. For example, How rain occur? How sun rises? How plantes revolve around earth? How days and nights are comings? and large number of other things like this. All these things are needed to explore and reveal the truth. So, there are other things for science to do not only focus on human faciities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you partially agree that improving people’s lives is science’s main aim. You support this with relevant examples, especially transport and mobile phones, and you also explain that science investigates natural phenomena such as rain and the movement of planets. This addresses both sides of the question. However, the discussion is uneven: the benefits to daily life receive several examples, while the alternative purpose of explaining the natural world is mostly listed as questions rather than developed. The link between population growth, discovering other planets, and science’s aims is also unclear. To strengthen the response, explain why each purpose matters and show more directly how these examples support your degree of agreement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph about practical benefits, and a contrasting paragraph about scientific explanation. Transitions such as “In contrast” and “For instance” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes loose: the point about population growth and other planets interrupts the discussion of transport, and the final paragraph moves through a series of questions without explaining their connection. Some linking is repetitive or mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “science” and “things.” Improve cohesion by grouping related examples, using clearer references to earlier points, and adding explanation after examples rather than relying on lists. A more focused conclusion would also make the overall line of argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “discover,” “communicate,” “business dealings,” and “reveal the truth.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or repetitive, such as “a lot of things,” “much much things,” and “great advantages.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including “sholud,” “plantes,” and “facilities” written as “faciities”; these reduce the accuracy and polish of the message. Some collocations are unnatural, for example “removed a lot of burden” and “made our life faster.” Build a more precise vocabulary for discussing scientific aims and impacts, and check spelling and common word combinations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a person living in any part of world” and a reason clause beginning “because the population…”. The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries are frequent enough to make reading less smooth. For example, “Science have” should be “Science has,” and “it does not mean that science just do things” needs “does.” The question sequence beginning “How rain occur?” also needs correct question structure and punctuation. Practise subject–verb agreement and forming indirect explanations, such as “how rain occurs,” and proofread for sentence boundaries. Greater control of these patterns would make your varied attempts clearer.
