Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern era science hold a crucial position in improving the lifestyle of the people. It contributes in the life of every individual in differnent ways like nowadays people are using science and technology in different sectors of the society e.g health, education, sports, industry, medicine etc for the betterment of the product and services provided to the native of the country.
Unfortunately, the technologies provided by science is more focused on entertainment industry and economical benefits, for example nowadays researches are mainly focused on how to incease the efficacy of the existing product rather then inventing something new which could be more beneficial for people. Moveover you will find people using science and technology in a negative way to earn some profits, for example call centers are using these technology created by science to fraud with innocent people.
If science is given right direction it could do wonders for example in todays era all of us have smartphones but we are using it for entertainment only but if we could provide awareness through it by producing AI based movies to attact people's attention then it will be great. Moreover we could make health daignosis and data storage apps so patients do not have to visit the hopital very frequently. This will also help in the crowd managment of the hospitals.
In conclusion i think science should be more focused on helping people in their daily life rather than doing wonders for entertainment industry. But this will need some real effort from all parts of the societ and government. the authorities should make a policy to encourage the science based researcher to focus of lifestyle betterment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: science should prioritise practical improvements to people’s lives over entertainment and profit. You address the prompt with relevant examples, including health apps, hospital crowding, and the misuse of technology in fraud. These examples show a sound response to the topic. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that research focuses on improving existing products rather than inventing new ones needs support, and the smartphone example could explain more clearly how AI-based films would improve lives. The conclusion restates your view and calls for government action, but the proposed policy remains general. More developed reasoning and a clearer link between each example and your central argument would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from science’s broad role, to concerns about its current direction, and then to possible beneficial applications. Linking expressions such as “Unfortunately,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal these stages. At times, however, the connections between ideas are mechanical or unclear. The first paragraph lists several sectors without developing their relationship to the argument, while the transition from smartphones to AI-based films and then to health apps brings together examples that could be organised more clearly. Some references, such as “these technology,” also make it harder to follow exactly what is being discussed. Group related examples and use clearer links between claims and explanations.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “technology,” “entertainment industry,” “health diagnosis,” and “data storage,” which allows you to discuss science and its applications. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “efficacy” and “crowd management.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “differnent,” “incease,” “attact,” and “daignosis.” Some collocations are unnatural or unclear: “contributes in the life,” “fraud with innocent people,” and “focus of lifestyle betterment.” Repetition of “science and technology” and “people” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn accurate word forms and common collocations, and choose precise expressions such as “commit fraud against” or “improve people’s quality of life.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If science is given right direction it could do wonders” and clauses explaining possible benefits. The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Subject–verb agreement is inaccurate in “science hold” and “technologies … is”; articles are missing in phrases such as “given right direction” and “visit the hopital”; and plural or determiner patterns need attention in “these technology.” Several long sentences also need more controlled punctuation and clause structure, particularly the opening sentence and the sentence beginning “for example nowadays researches.” Practise checking agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, while keeping complex sentences manageable.
