Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you agree that science should primarily improve people’s lives. You support this with relevant examples from medicine, transport, education and electricity, including vaccines, surgery and access to learning through phones. This addresses the task and gives the reader a clear rationale. However, the examples are often asserted rather than explained: for instance, the discussion of transport does not show specifically how scientific advances improve people’s lives, and the education example could explain its benefits more fully. The response also focuses almost entirely on advantages, without considering why other aims of science might matter. To strengthen the argument, develop fewer examples in more depth and clarify how each supports your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on health and everyday applications, and a conclusion. The progression from medicine to transport and education is generally easy to follow, and phrases such as “In conclusion” help signal the final point. However, links between ideas are sometimes mechanical or unclear. The long paragraph beginning “Science also plays a vital role” moves quickly from transport to phones, education and electricity, so its central focus becomes diffuse. Some sentences also run together, making relationships between points harder to see. Use clearer topic sentences, divide distinct examples into focused paragraphs, and connect each example explicitly to the claim that science improves quality of life.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “vaccines,” “surgeries,” “transport,” “technology” and “death rates,” so the reader can understand the subject and your main examples. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “easy,” “life” and “science.” Some combinations are unnatural, such as “vital key role,” “science is made to make human life easy” and “world education resouse.” Spelling errors—including “comfertable,” “convinent” and “diseses”—also make the writing less precise. Aim for more accurate collocations and a wider range of expressions for benefits, such as “improve access,” “enhance quality of life” and “medical advances.” Proofreading would help ensure that your intended meaning is consistently clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate your main ideas using mostly straightforward sentence patterns, and you attempt some longer structures, for example, “Through science many of diseases … are now treated and can be cured.” However, control is inconsistent: “As we all know that it is the era…” has an unnecessary conjunction, while “Science make our live…” shows problems with subject–verb agreement and sentence structure. Articles, plurals and punctuation also need attention, as in “a open heart surgery” and the run-on opening, “people's lives.I agree.” Several sentences join multiple ideas without clear punctuation, which can make them difficult to process. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then build longer sentences with clear clauses and conjunctions; check agreement, articles and sentence boundaries during editing.
