Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, there has been considerable debate about the crucial role of science should be enhance people's quality of life. I completely agree with this viewpoint because science made a success in the field of medication and it also made individual's lives more easier with the help of technological advancements.

The primary reason for my view is that science brought a huge change in the field of medicines. This is because

those treatments which were impossible back in times are easily available for people due to science. As a result, it is more easier for doctors to save patients suffering from different ailments with the help of proper medication.

For instance, if a patient diagnosed with first stage of cancer doctors can save them with proper medication or supplements which were impossible in old times. Therefore, this can improve public health and contribute to a better quality of life.

Another significant reason is that science also made people's lives easier with the support of technological advancements. in other words, we can learn all kind of skills with the aid of AI ( Artificial Intelligence) this represents another huge advancement in the field of science. This demonstrates some positive results. To illustrate, in developing countries people are taking advantage from AI they even run their business with the aid of AI which are showing some positive results.

I strongly agree with this view that the crucial role of science should be enhance people's quality of life becauseof its potential to improve individual well-being and promote wider social progress. Although certain challenges may arise, I believe that the overall impact depends on how effectively this approach is implemented and managed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you agree that science should improve people’s lives. You address this with two relevant areas—medical treatment and technology—and the cancer example helps illustrate the health benefit. This meets the task well, while the explanation of how AI improves lives is less fully developed: running a business is mentioned, but the specific benefit to people or society is not made clear. The conclusion also introduces “wider social progress” without explaining it in the body. To strengthen the response further, develop each example with a clear cause-and-effect explanation and ensure the supporting points consistently show why improving lives should be science’s most important aim.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. Signposting such as “The primary reason,” “Another significant reason,” and “For instance” helps readers follow the argument. However, some links feel mechanical or do not clearly advance the reasoning. For example, “This demonstrates some positive results” is vague, and the transition from AI use to the claim about business benefits needs a clearer explanation. The final sentence also adds a new idea about “wider social progress” rather than drawing together the two body points. Use more precise referencing and connect examples explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “technological advancements,” “ailments,” “medication,” and “individual well-being,” which allows you to discuss both health and technology. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “made a success in the field of medication,” “more easier,” and “taking advantage from AI.” Repeated use of “positive results” and “with the aid of” also limits precision. These choices do not prevent the main ideas from being understood, but they make some sentences sound unnatural. Aim for accurate collocations and more specific vocabulary to describe the actual benefits of medical and technological advances.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures with “because” and “as a result,” and the main argument is generally understandable. However, some errors in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries remain. For example, “the crucial role of science should be enhance” needs a passive form, while “science made a success” uses an unsuitable verb construction. In “if a patient diagnosed with first stage of cancer doctors can save them,” the conditional clause needs a verb and clearer punctuation. Capitalisation is also inconsistent in “in other words.” Work on accurate verb patterns and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex structures; this will make the reasoning easier to follow.
