Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, science has played a pivotal role in improving people's lives. However, some people believe that it should only stay focused on that rather than contributing to other fields whereas I assert that other areas are also paramount for scientifical improvments as they all together contribute to a developed nation and improved lifestyle.

To begin with, Science has helped people dramatically in medical field. In this contemporary era, communities can get facilitated by all medical equipments for disease diagnosis and their treatments. Such as, X-Ray machines, Physiotherapy equipments and BP machines. Additionally, people can get all type of test results by giving blood samples in hospital labortaries consequently leading to disease diagnosis which is invalubale benefit of science. Furthermore, biotechnology has also helped folks in a major way and general science such as computer science has also contributed into improving society by technological advancements. For instance, roborts, laptops, mobile devices and trackers, as a result, these have made people's lives easier.

On the other end of the edge, science should also take part in improving lives for other species by innovating new ways to preserve rare species and to facilitate them with treatments in case of sickness and to give them shelters becasue they show nature and their survial is essential.

In a nutshell, I would like to argue that no doubt that the main role of science should be on improving human beings, neverthe less other speccies are also important to be noticed

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a position: science should primarily improve human lives, while also benefiting other species. The medical examples—diagnostic equipment, blood tests and biotechnology—are relevant, and the final paragraph returns to your view. However, the response only partly develops the question of what science’s “most important aim” should be. The opening briefly mentions other fields, but the body mainly lists technologies rather than explaining how they compare with improving people’s lives; the paragraph about other species is also asserted rather than supported with a specific example. The conclusion is brief and does not fully resolve this comparison. The response is 244 words, six short of the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your reasons. Explain your position more fully and support each main point.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on human benefits, a contrasting paragraph about other species, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “In a nutshell” help signal movement between sections. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes list-like: the medical examples and devices are named without clear links explaining how each supports the central argument. “On the other end of the edge” is an unclear transition, and “Such as” introduces a fragment rather than a complete sentence. The final paragraph also repeats the position without drawing the ideas together. Use clearer transitions, connect examples explicitly to your claim, and develop the contrast between human and other-species benefits.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “pivotal role,” “biotechnology,” “technological advancements,” and “preserve rare species.” These choices show an effort to discuss science beyond basic terms. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “scientifical improvments,” “get facilitated by,” “medical equipments,” and “take part in improving lives for other species.” Spelling errors—including “labortaries,” “invalubale,” and “survial”—also reduce precision. Some expressions, such as “other end of the edge,” make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling; a smaller number of precise terms will be more effective than ambitious but unsuitable phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, more complex sentences, for example the sentence beginning “Additionally, people can get all type of test results…” and the clause explaining why species’ survival matters. The main ideas are generally understandable, but some sentence structures are incomplete or awkward. “Such as, X-Ray machines…” is a fragment, while the sentence beginning “For instance, roborts…” also lacks a complete grammatical structure. There are errors in articles, plurals and agreement, as in “in medical field,” “all type of test results,” and “these have made.” The conclusion’s “I would like to argue that no doubt that” is also structurally unclear. Practise complete sentences and check article use, plural forms and clause construction.
