Student answer (Band 6.0)

Science has transformed the way we live and interact. It has discovered multiple non negotiable principles to enhance the quality of our lives and has paved the way for further discoveries. I strongly agree with the statement that to improve the humanitarian lives must be it's first and foremost priority.

It is paramount for the wellbeing of society to accept the scientific discoveries. Science has deepend it's roots in the field of biology. It has now reached to the genomics, physiology, and immunology as well. In the modern age, people have given the access to get aware of the whole science behind their diagnosis. Furthermore, individuals can get the data of all of their ancestors through a single fragment of DNA. Moreover, science has made it easier to identify criminals through DNA testing and PCR techniques. For example; in rape cases, the DNA samples are collected from the site of violence to know the identity of criminal.

In addition, the discovery of medicine and the awareness of diet to aging has a wide range of far reaching consequences. Today, people are well aware of the fact that how they can prevent diseases and enhance the longevity of life. The concept of balancing the ratio of macronutrient and micronutrients in our diets has been fostered people to be cautious about the nutritional quality quality of their meals. For example; the concept of diet diversity has lead to different community programmes to educate people to eat food in a variety rather than being stuck to specific food options. Moreover, understanding the science behind obesity and fat accumulation in body. it has become easier to manage and lose weight to improve overall health status and to achieve an ideal body weight. Science has enabled us to calculate daily energy expenditure and the calories needed ny body at rest which helps to maintain a balance between energy input and energy output, thus helps to maintain body weight.

In my perspective, the core aim of science has been established several years ago as to improve the lives and it has been achieved it successfully. However, there are several steps which should be taken to move forward to discover even more about the suspiciousness of some of body functions that are still undiscovered.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that improving people’s lives should be science’s priority. The discussion of DNA testing, disease prevention, nutrition and weight management is relevant, and the examples help show practical benefits. This meets the task well, while the range of supporting points shows some of the development expected at a stronger level. However, the response mainly explains how science improves health and safety; it does not consider other ways science might improve lives or acknowledge possible competing aims. The final paragraph also asserts that science has achieved its purpose without supporting that claim, and “suspiciousness” of body functions is unclear. Develop fewer points more fully and make the conclusion directly reinforce your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a concluding paragraph. Ideas generally progress from genetics and criminal investigation to medicine, diet and health, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “In addition” and “Moreover” help signal relationships. This gives the essay an overall coherent arrangement. However, the second body paragraph contains many related but crowded points, and the repeated use of “Moreover” and “For example” can make the connections feel mechanical. The final paragraph introduces further discoveries without clearly linking them to the main argument. Group related examples, use clearer topic sentences, and make each paragraph’s central point explicit to strengthen progression and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “genomics,” “immunology,” “DNA testing,” “macronutrient” and “energy expenditure.” These terms help you discuss scientific and health-related examples with some specificity, and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “far-reaching consequences” and “first and foremost priority,” though some combinations are inaccurate or unnatural. Examples include “non negotiable principles,” “humanitarian lives,” “awareness of diet to aging” and “suspiciousness of some of body functions.” Spelling and word-form slips such as “deepend” and “ny” also reduce precision. Choose more natural collocations and check spelling and repeated words, such as “quality quality,” to make your vocabulary more controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “that,” “which” and “rather than,” and many sentences communicate their main meaning. However, some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships unclear. For example, “It has now reached to the genomics” has an incorrect construction, while “people have given the access” and “how they can prevent diseases” show problems with articles and clause structure. The fragment “Moreover, understanding the science behind obesity…” is not a complete sentence, and “it has been achieved it successfully” has faulty pronoun and verb construction. Apostrophes are also misused in “it’s roots.” Review sentence completeness, verb patterns, articles and punctuation, then proofread complex sentences carefully.
