Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the modern age, science has become an integral part of our lives. It plays an essential role in making the human life more better. From my perspective, science should primarily improve people's life in different aspects.
Science has brought many changes in our lives. It improves human health amd well being. For example; Modern research has helped scientist in making medicines, vaccines and advanced treatments for various diseases. Furthuremore, scientific interventions like smartphones and internet have made communication easy and fast. People can communicate with their family members and friends by using these modern interventions.
Another impoertant benefit of science is that it has improved our daily life activities in terms of technology. Use of the modern technology can help a person to do their in the most easy way. It can reduce physical requirements of a person to complete everyday task. For instance, Automachine for washing clothes has now become an advantegous scientific tool which reduces the physical efforts and complete the work quickly. In adiition, scientific developments has improved our environment in terms of developing renewable energy and reduce pollution.
In the contrary, science should only be used to improve human's life. It also be used to understand the universe and discover new information about the nature. For example, by exploring the space, a scientist can make another planet and learn more about the origin of the universe.
In conclsion, i strongly believe that the primary aim of science is to improve people's lives in providing comfort, health, communication and better environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that improving people’s lives should be science’s primary aim, and you support this with relevant examples involving medicine, communication, household technology and renewable energy. You also address the qualification in the prompt by noting that science can serve other purposes, such as exploring space and understanding the universe. However, these ideas are not developed equally. The health and communication examples are explained, while the environmental point is only briefly mentioned, and the space example does not explain how this secondary aim relates to your overall position. To strengthen the response, explain the significance of each example and clarify why improving lives should remain the priority even when science pursues knowledge for its own sake.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, paragraphs presenting benefits, a contrasting point and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from health and communication to everyday technology and then to other scientific aims. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “In addition” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “In the contrary” does not accurately introduce the qualification, and the paragraph beginning “Another important benefit” combines household technology with environmental improvements without fully connecting them. The reference in “It also be used” is also unclear because the sentence does not establish what “it” refers to. Use more precise transitions and organise each paragraph around one clearly developed main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “vaccines,” “advanced treatments,” “renewable energy” and “origin of the universe,” so the main ideas are understandable. There is also some attempt to vary expression through phrases such as “scientific interventions” and “scientific developments.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, as in “modern interventions,” “make another planet” and “physical requirements” where more natural expressions are needed. Several spelling errors, including “Furthuremore,” “impoertant” and “advantegous,” also reduce accuracy. Build a more reliable range of topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully; prioritise natural combinations such as “develop treatments,” “reduce physical effort” and “explore other planets.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including examples introduced with “For example” and a contrast beginning “In the contrary.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For instance, “It also be used” is missing an auxiliary, while “scientific developments has improved” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence “Use of the modern technology can help a person to do their in the most easy way” is structurally incomplete, and “a person” followed by “their” creates inconsistent reference. There are also errors in articles, plurals and punctuation, such as the semicolon after “For example.” Practise accurate clause construction and agreement, then proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation.
