Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the modern society, science is increase the sources which helps to people live easily because science helps improve health, education, communication and living standards this is the reason i agree with the statement.

On the positive side, one main reason why i agree is that science make every day life more easier and the convenient for example student should attend the online classes and access all the educational information from home, while farmer can use more scientific machinery to increase agricultural production. Another reason, nowadays science developed a product and chip it work like a big amount of data store into in micro cheap and then access to all the information and network. Such as, now days around two millimeter micro cheap keep in the smart phone it helps to reduce phone size and weight.

On the negative side, scientific developments can sometimes have negative effects on the people life, people must be depending on the science so people became more lazy while students are probably depending on the Artificial intelligence and avoid to do work on themselves. Another reason, the invention of advanced weapons has increased the risk of wars and destruction, while industrial technologies can contribute to air and water pollution. moreover, excessive dependance on modern technology it may reduce face to face communication and negatively affect on the social relationships.

In my opinion, improvement of the science for make people life easy because if they use in the positively people should learn more the information and they shave time.

In conclusion, if the government should used the science in agriculture to produced healthy food and they used science into reduced pollution. In medical term nowadays researchers has to more technology to produce new medicine.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you give relevant examples involving online education, agricultural machinery, medical research, and communication. You also acknowledge drawbacks, including dependence on technology, weapons, and pollution, so the response considers more than one side of the issue. However, the discussion does not consistently explain why improving lives should be science’s most important aim. Some points, such as the microchip example and the final comments about government use, are difficult to connect clearly to your central argument or are only briefly explained. Develop fewer examples in more depth and make the link between each one and your position explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, paragraphs presenting benefits and drawbacks, an opinion paragraph, and a conclusion. This gives the reader an overall route through your ideas. However, progression is sometimes unclear: the paragraph beginning “On the positive side” moves from education and farming to microchips without explaining the relationship between these examples. Linking phrases such as “Another reason” and “Moreover” help, but some are used mechanically, and the conclusion introduces government action and medicine rather than clearly drawing together the main argument. Organise each body paragraph around one central point, use clearer references between sentences, and ensure the conclusion follows from the discussion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “agricultural production,” “advanced weapons,” “air and water pollution,” and “social relationships.” These choices show an effort to discuss both benefits and risks of science. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “science,” “people,” and “use,” while several inaccurate word choices or forms make ideas harder to understand. For example, “micro cheap” appears to mean “microchip,” and “shave time” seems intended to mean “save time.” Some phrases, including “science make every day life more easier,” are not natural English. Build a bank of accurate topic-specific collocations and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to combine ideas using clauses with “because,” “while,” and “if,” and you use both simple and longer sentence forms. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “science is increase” and “science make” have incorrect verb forms, while “student should attend” does not match the general plural meaning. The opening sentence also runs several ideas together without clear punctuation. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking agreement and verb forms. Use full stops to separate complete ideas and capitalise “I” and sentence beginnings.
