Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction—“I strongly agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, including healthcare, convenience, and environmental solutions, and the vaccine example helps support the healthcare point. This meets the task well overall. However, the ideas are not equally developed: the healthcare paragraph includes several claims but does not explain them clearly, while the environmental point is brief and the sentence beginning “Although some scientific discoveries…” is left without a clear connection to your argument. To strengthen the response, explain how each example demonstrates that improving lives should be science’s primary aim, and develop or remove the unfinished counterpoint. The response already shows a clear position and relevant support, but fuller explanation is needed for a more complete treatment.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around different benefits, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “The first,” “Another major benefit,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. The overall progression is clear, but some links between ideas are mechanical or unclear. For instance, the healthcare paragraph moves from machines to laboratories, reports, medicines, and vaccines without explaining the relationships between these examples. “Although some scientific discoveries…” also interrupts the environmental paragraph and does not lead to a complete contrast. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim. More precise referencing and smoother transitions would make the organisation feel less list-like while preserving this effective overall structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “healthcare,” “vaccines,” “scientific research,” “solar and wind energy,” and “pollution,” so the reader can identify the subject and main ideas. There are also attempts to express broader concepts, such as “sustainable.” However, the range and control are limited by frequent spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations, including “benefial,” “laborties,” “environmental challenging,” and “tackle with the environment.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to interpret. Aim to learn vocabulary in accurate phrases, rather than translating word by word, and proofread spelling carefully. More precise collocations—for example, describing research as “addressing environmental challenges”—would help you express your relevant ideas more clearly and flexibly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because,” a conditional phrase beginning “without scientific progress,” and a sentence using “Although.” This shows some range, and the main position is generally understandable. However, complex structures are often not controlled successfully: “Another major benefit of science is that makes…” lacks a subject after “that,” and “Although some scientific discoveries opens…” has an incomplete clause and faulty agreement. Other examples include “people may live long and healthier lives” and “people’s should be the main aim,” where sentence patterns and grammatical forms are inaccurate. Practise complete clause construction, subject–verb agreement, articles, and possessives. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument easier to read.
