Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a partly agreeing position in the introduction and return to a balanced conclusion, so the response addresses the central question. Relevant examples include healthcare, disease prediction, weather forecasts and disaster warnings. However, the argument is only partly developed: the second body paragraph shifts from improving people’s lives to developing the country, without explaining clearly how these aims differ or why exploration should receive priority. The point about universities and modern information is also introduced but not explained. To strengthen the response, state more precisely what other scientific aims matter and support each main claim with a clear explanation or example showing its benefit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposting such as “To commence with,” “Moreover” and “Furthermore” helps identify the stages of the argument. However, progression within and between paragraphs is not always clear. The first body paragraph moves quickly from healthcare to weather forecasts, disasters and universities, while the second repeats forecasting and communication without establishing a distinct line of reasoning. Some links are also awkward or unclear, particularly “To explicate with other side” and “Therefore” before the final claim. Organise each paragraph around one main point, explain it, and then connect it explicitly to your position rather than relying mainly on transition phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “natural disaster,” “satellites,” “exploration” and “agriculture,” and the reader can generally identify your intended subject. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are frequent enough to cause difficulty: examples include “paly,” “siginificant,” “experiemnts” and “wheather.” Several phrases are also unnatural or unclear, such as “ameliorate living of life,” “procure the individuals” and “making the better.” These problems limit precision even when the underlying idea is relevant. Focus on accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; using simpler expressions such as “improve living standards” is more effective than attempting an unsuitable synonym.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and subordinate clauses, for example the sentence beginning “Moreover, science should predict of natural disaster,” but complex structures are often faulty, and many sentences contain errors that make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “science have,” “science provide,” and “science should also obligations,” which show problems with subject–verb agreement and sentence construction. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “conclusion” at the start of the final paragraph and the long opening sentence of the first body paragraph. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add clauses with clear subjects and verbs. Check agreement, articles and punctuation during revision.
