Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response is relevant to the topic and gives a clear general view that science has improved human life, supported by examples from medicine, the internet and agriculture. These examples show an understanding of the statement, but the extent of your agreement is not stated explicitly or maintained as a developed argument. The discussion mainly describes benefits rather than explaining why improving people’s lives should be science’s most important aim, and the examples are brief: for instance, the internet’s role in trade is mentioned without showing its wider effect on people. To strengthen the response, state your position directly in the introduction and develop each example with a specific explanation or illustration. A conclusion should also restate your view more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has an overall structure, moving from an introduction to examples and then a concluding statement. Paragraphing helps separate the discussion of health, the internet and agriculture, and signposts such as “First” and “Furthermore” make the sequence easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the opening moves quickly from stone-age life to resources and modern life, while the agriculture section begins with the fragment “Agricultural development.” Some links are mechanical or imprecise, and references such as “Due to it” do not always make the connection between ideas clear. Organise each body paragraph around one main point, then explain its effect before moving to the next example. This would make the argument flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use topic-related vocabulary such as “medical technology,” “pesticide,” “cultivation” and “global village,” which helps communicate the main examples. However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form and collocation errors make the writing less precise, including “benifit,” “des eases,” “intervine” and “human lifes.” Some expressions are also vague or unnatural, such as “science put step in it” and “science spare no effort.” Aim to learn common academic collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. For example, “science has played a role” is more natural than “science play role,” while “agricultural machinery” is more precise than “machines that are using in place of animals.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Most sentences communicate a basic idea, and you attempt to connect clauses using forms such as “Due to this” and “With the help of it.” However, the range is mostly simple, and attempts at longer structures are often inaccurate. Examples include “Science make him ables,” “internet have major contribution,” and “people knows,” where subject–verb agreement or verb forms are incorrect. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction, as in “saving the life of person” and the fragment “Agricultural development.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the intended meaning. Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles and tense before adding more complex clauses.
