Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your response takes a generally supportive position, especially in the conclusion that science should protect people and make life easier. You give relevant examples from agriculture, pollution control and communication, so the discussion remains connected to the topic. However, the task asks how far you agree that improving people’s lives should be science’s most important aim, and this central judgement is not clearly established or explored throughout. The opening mainly lists fields, while the healthcare point is introduced but not developed with a specific benefit or example. Several later claims, such as science reducing pollution, also need explanation or qualification. State your degree of agreement directly, then develop fewer examples by showing how each improves people’s lives and why this aim should take priority.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs on agriculture, the environment and daily life, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Secondly,” “Thirdly” and “In addition to this” help readers follow the examples. This clear paragraph-level organisation supports the argument, although the outline at the start is unnecessary and the progression is somewhat list-like rather than building a sustained case about the most important aim of science. Some links are mechanical, and references such as “this time” are not clear. The healthcare idea in the introduction is not carried into a developed body paragraph. To improve, connect each paragraph explicitly to your position and use clearer references and transitions that show cause, consequence or comparison rather than simply numbering points.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate several relevant areas, including “agriculture,” “fertilizers,” “pesticides,” “recycling plants” and “communication.” However, the range is limited and some words or phrases are repeated, particularly “very important,” “easy” and “many.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including “instruements,” “sceince,” “surronding” and “cleansing machines”; these can distract the reader or make meaning less precise. Some combinations are unnatural, such as “raise the crops” and “provide a lot general knowledge.” Build a more precise set of topic collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe machinery as “cultivating crops” and explain that smartphones provide “access to information,” rather than relying on broad or awkward expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your writing communicates its main points through mostly straightforward sentence patterns, and you attempt some longer structures using “because,” “that” and “Moreover.” However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction. Examples include “Science plays very important role,” “the pollution are reduce,” “smart phone entertain us,” and “science are very important.” The sentence about agriculture also shifts between past and present forms: “agriculture are hard and takes” followed by “now this time, it is very easy.” These patterns sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the intended meaning. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and article use first, then build longer sentences around one clear main clause with a correctly formed supporting clause.
