Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that science should aim to improve people’s lives, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons. The examples of AI saving time and medical technology supporting diagnosis and treatment directly address the prompt. However, the discussion is not equally developed: the AI paragraph makes broad claims about speed and effort without a specific illustration, while the medical paragraph gives more detail about X-rays and tests. The conclusion restates your view but does not draw together the reasons or consider the scope of the claim—for example, whether improving lives should be science’s primary aim alongside other goals. Developing and explaining each example more fully would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing expressions such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In Conclusion” help readers follow the main progression. Within paragraphs, however, several ideas are joined into long chains, particularly in the AI paragraph, so the relationship between claims and examples is not always easy to track. Some linking is also mechanical, and the conclusion repeats the central position rather than synthesising the two arguments. Use clearer sentence boundaries and more precise links—for instance, explain how the AI example supports the claim about improving daily life—while keeping each paragraph focused on one developed point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “artificial intelligence,” “medicine,” “surgeries,” “diagnose,” and “treatment,” which allows you to discuss both technology and healthcare. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “IT sectors” and “right way to treat an issue.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear: “serve them the ease,” “study of technology,” and “good affects on the study of drugs” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors such as “storngly,” “oppertunity,” and “widley” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural topic collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, including explanations introduced by “which” and “that.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is inconsistent: “science improved the study of technology, that will help us” has an unclear clause connection and tense choice, while “it also save the time” and “it will improved the health sector” show errors in verb forms and agreement. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable, with several comma splices and run-on sentences, especially in the first body paragraph. Practise accurate present-tense forms and divide long explanations into shorter sentences; then add complex clauses only where their relationships are clear.
