Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You express a relevant general view that science should improve people’s lives, mentioning healthcare, cures, food shortages, pollution, clean energy, communication and transport. These examples show awareness of the topic, but the response addresses the question only minimally: it does not clearly explain how strongly you agree, and the ideas are listed rather than supported with reasons or specific examples. The response also contains 119 words, so it is substantially below the required 250 words; this leaves important parts of the argument undeveloped. To strengthen your response, state your position directly in the introduction, explain two or three benefits in separate paragraphs, and show why improving lives should be science’s most important aim.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: the opening introduces science and human life, followed by points about health and wider social problems. The final section also gives examples such as clean energy and transportation. However, the response has no clear overall progression from a stated position to developed supporting points and a conclusion. Connections between ideas are often unclear, and the repeated use of “science” and “help” does not show how one point leads to the next. For example, the shift from viruses and cures to global problems is abrupt. Use clear topic sentences, link each example to your main argument, and add a concluding sentence that restates your view.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “health care,” “medicine,” “food shortages,” “pollution,” “clean energy,” and “communication systems.” These terms make the subject recognisable, and the examples show an attempt to use vocabulary beyond very basic everyday language. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “living structure,” “vrise effect,” and “gelobal problem solving.” Repetition of “science” and “help” also limits precision. Build a reliable set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations; for instance, describe science as improving living standards and developing treatments for diseases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response mainly uses short statements and simple clauses, with a few attempts to connect ideas, such as “some global issue like food shortages, pollution, dirty water and other many things.” This gives you a basic way to present examples, but the range of sentence structures is very limited, and frequent errors sometimes make the intended meaning unclear. Examples include “Science improve peoples living…” and “its helps health care,” where subject–verb agreement and sentence construction are not controlled. There are also run-on sentences and inconsistent punctuation, particularly in the opening. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then combine related points using accurate conjunctions and punctuation.
