Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you completely agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you give relevant reasons involving convenience, healthcare and transport, and environmental protection. Examples such as renewable energy and electric vehicles help connect your argument to real applications. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the first body paragraph lists several benefits without explaining their effects in much detail, and the environmental paragraph repeats the idea of saving money and reducing pollution rather than extending the argument. The response also falls short of the required 250 words, which limits the space available to develop your reasons. To strengthen the response, explain the impact of each example and consider briefly addressing whether science has other important aims.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs generally focus on distinct themes, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” make the overall direction easy to follow. However, some linking is mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always expressed clearly. For example, “In addition electrical vehicles…” does not form a clear connection to the preceding sentence, while the final sentence of the environmental paragraph repeats earlier benefits. Use linking phrases only where they clarify a specific relationship, and organise each body paragraph around one main claim followed by explanation and a developed example. This would make progression smoother and reduce repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “renewable energy,” “solar,” “wind,” “tidal energies,” and “pollution,” so the reader can understand the main subject and examples. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors make the writing less natural. Examples include “crusial role,” “fossile fule,” “electrical vehicles,” and “give impostance.” Phrases such as “Science make technological advancement in facilities” are also unclear because the vocabulary does not express the intended idea precisely. Build a bank of accurate collocations for science and its effects, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain benefits without relying repeatedly on “save,” “easy,” and “important.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. For example, “Science make” and “science develop” need subject–verb agreement, while “it make people life easy” has problems with agreement and possessive structure. The sentence beginning “For example, people who use electrical vehicles…” is incomplete, and “hence it is decrease” has an incorrect verb construction. There are also issues with articles, plurals, and punctuation, such as the comma after “since” in the conclusion. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add complex clauses and check that each sentence has a complete main clause.
