Student answer (Band 5.5)
In todays world, it is widely belived that the goal of science should be to enhance Individual lives positively.
I am of the the firm view that Science does improve the lives of people, in our daily activities as humans.
Firstly, The introduction of Medicine by science has made things better for us as humans, because it makes us understand dieases and develop medicines and vaccines.
For example, just by going to the hospital to see a doctor, when you are unwell, hthrough the help of medicine, the doctor tells you exactly what the problem is, if its an infection, or a disease.
Another example, Medicine through the help of Science helpd us to develop vaccines, for instance, Hepatitis B, now has a vaccine to prevent transmission, also Hiv, theres Prep to prevent transfer from one partner to another, If one of thye Partner is already infected, he wont be able to transfer it to his/her partner.
Secondly, Science through a lot of inventions, produced Technology.
Technology helps our daily lives as individuals, thrugh the digital tools like phones, computers we are able to reach our loved ones, unlike the olden days that people had to write lettters and send to the post-office.
it has actually communication easier for people and people can communicate for long irrespective of the distance. Technology has also helped our lives immenesly by creating awareness on social media, for example, A fashion brand creating awareness of their new products that just came in, it could be a dress,a bag or shoe, Further more, An individual could create awareness foer security on social media by just posting about it, what happened and how people should be careful.
Lastly, I agree to a large extent, that the objectives of science has improved peoples lives drastically in a positive way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you support it with relevant examples from medicine and technology. The discussion of vaccines and digital communication shows how scientific developments can benefit individuals. However, the response does not fully explore the wording “the most important aim”: it explains benefits but does not consider whether science should also pursue other aims, such as expanding knowledge or addressing environmental problems. Some examples are also less fully developed; the social-media discussion shifts from communication to advertising and security awareness without clearly explaining how these demonstrate science’s central purpose. To strengthen the response, address the “most important” aspect directly and explain each example’s relevance more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, two main points signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a concluding statement. This makes the main line of argument easy to identify. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical or unclear. The medicine paragraph moves from diagnosis to vaccines, while the technology paragraph shifts from contacting loved ones to product promotion and security posts; clearer links would help these examples build one argument. Some sentences also run together, and the final paragraph repeats the position rather than drawing the main points together. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s central claim, group related examples, and add clearer transitions between explanation and evidence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “vaccines,” “infection,” “digital tools,” and “communication,” so the reader can follow the subject. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “prevent transmission” and “creating awareness.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors are noticeable: “enhance Individual lives positively” is awkward, “Medicine by science” is imprecise, and “helped our lives immensely” is not a natural collocation. Misspellings such as “dieases,” “immenesly,” and “thye” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise academic phrasing and check spelling carefully; for example, describe science as “advancing medical treatment” and technology as “facilitating communication.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional structures such as “if it’s an infection” and a relative clause in “a fashion brand creating awareness of their new products.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and control recur. For example, “it has actually communication easier” is missing a verb form, and “Medicine through the help of Science helpd us” has an agreement problem. The sentence beginning “For example, just by going to the hospital” is also awkwardly structured, while punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and clause boundaries. More accurate control of these structures would make your examples easier to read.
