Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

Your position is stated clearly in the introduction and conclusion: you agree that science should improve people’s lives. You also attempt to support this view with examples involving electricity, solar power, plants, and vegetables. However, the response addresses the question only minimally: much of the discussion describes science as a school subject or lists related fields, rather than explaining how scientific progress improves people’s lives or why this should be its most important aim. The examples are brief and their relevance is not always made clear. The response is also 47 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your reasons. Explain two relevant benefits in more detail and connect each directly to your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, there is no clear progression in the argument: the first body paragraph moves from school subjects to technology, while the second shifts to plants and fresh vegetables without explaining the connection to the main claim. Linking phrases are limited and sometimes do not show a meaningful contrast. To improve, give each paragraph one central point, develop it with an explanation and example, and use references such as “This technology” to make connections between sentences clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “science,” “technology,” “solar power,” “environment,” and “fresh vegetables,” so the subject is generally identifiable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make ideas difficult to understand. For example, “enhance individual survives” does not clearly express the intended benefit, and “science is a nature with explore the world” is hard to interpret. There are also spelling errors such as “tpye,” “soical,” and “technic.” Aim to use precise phrases for the benefits you discuss, such as improving health, providing clean energy, or increasing food production, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning can sometimes be inferred. However, grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation. Examples include “The major fact that the significant goal of science should be enhance,” “Science give the knowledge,” and “it is easy for us and help for people.” These patterns make several sentences difficult to follow. Most sentences rely on basic constructions, and attempts to connect clauses often produce incomplete or faulty structures. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and verb forms—for example, “Science gives people knowledge” and “The goal should be to improve people’s lives.”
