Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you support this with relevant examples from medicine, environmental practices, and technology. The discussion of medical research and washing machines makes the benefits understandable. However, the response mainly lists ways science is useful rather than explaining why improving lives should be its most important aim. The opening also mentions transportation and education, but education is not developed later. The point about recycling is relevant, though the link between scientific knowledge and better community outcomes could be explained more fully. To strengthen the response, state your degree of agreement explicitly and develop each example with a clearer explanation of its impact on people.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around different contributions of science, and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the discussion, and signposts such as “For example,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” make relationships between points visible. However, some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “In addition,” and the second body paragraph moves from washing machines to cars without explaining the connection between these examples. The opening overview also introduces education, which is not taken up in the body. Improve progression by grouping related examples more deliberately and using referencing or transitions that show how each example supports your central position.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “severe illnesses,” “immunizations,” “sustainable practices,” and “scientific formulas and calculations.” These choices help communicate ideas about health, the environment, and technology. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “contribute to the solution to the challenges.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, however: “finding cure,” “conducting researches,” and “cars that we are enjoying” do not sound natural in this context. Spelling errors such as “techonologies,” “biodegrables,” and “sustanability” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations—for example, “develop treatments,” “carry out research,” and “vehicles we use”—and proofread spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “however,” “that,” and “by,” and most ideas remain understandable. Some grammatical errors occur in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “it also take part” should be “it also takes part,” while “the tasks is made easier” should be “the task is made easier” or “the tasks are made easier.” In “the cars … is another contribution,” the plural subject requires “are.” The opening phrase “Science most important goal” also needs a possessive form: “Science’s most important goal.” Review subject–verb agreement and articles, and check each sentence for a complete, correctly formed structure.
