Student answer (Band 5.5)

The main objective of science should be to enhance our lives . I agree with the given statement.

There are many discoveries science has made these many years , one of the best inventions were the medicine to human related diseases . Before science was discovered there were many disorders for human lives , and only way to get rid was to die . All the hard work by scientists throughout the years has bought change in human development ,science has to focus on human wellness , as we are the ones who discovered treatments for any kind of diseases .Such as cure for Small pox , invention of Insulin , Aspirin for heart patients , are few examples of discoveries by scientists .All these inventions are done by humans , hence science should further make experiments focusing on human life .

Further aiming on people health should be high priority because , science has given life to chemists , discovering new elements , later which they are used in medicine . Even in other domains such as physics , it gave ideas to engineers , regarding measures to be taken while constructing bridge , in which formulas were discover with help of science by humans .

To conclude , it is argued that there are many answers which even science cannot answer and that is beyond human knowledge ,I agree with statemnt where science should mainly aim on human life .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the opening and conclusion: you agree that science should aim to improve human life. The examples of smallpox treatment, insulin and aspirin are relevant, and the reference to physics and bridge construction begins to show that science can also improve safety. However, the response addresses the task only partially because these points are mostly listed rather than explained. For instance, you could clarify how medical discoveries have improved life expectancy or how scientific knowledge makes bridges safer. The claim that before science “the only way to get rid was to die” is too broad and needs qualification. The response is also below the required 250 words, so there is limited space to develop your reasons and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The progression from medical discoveries to physics gives the reader a basic route through your ideas, and phrases such as “Further” and “To conclude” signal paragraph roles. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear: the second paragraph shifts from health to chemistry and then bridge construction without explaining how these examples support the central argument. Linking expressions are sometimes mechanical, and several sentences run together, making relationships between ideas harder to follow. Organise each body paragraph around one reason, then explain and illustrate it. Clearer sentence boundaries and references to the main claim would make the argument easier to track.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “discoveries,” “treatments,” “scientists,” “chemists,” and “constructing bridge,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more specific examples, such as “Insulin” and “Small pox.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “science was discovered,” “medicine to human related diseases,” and “science has given life to chemists.” Repetition of “science,” “human” and “life” also reduces flexibility. Choose more precise expressions and check spelling and word forms; for example, refer to scientific advances or medical treatments rather than saying science was discovered. This would make your meaning more natural and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the main position is generally understandable. However, the range of structures is limited, and attempts to combine several ideas often produce frequent grammatical errors. Examples include “one of the best inventions were,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “formulas were discover,” which needs a past participle. Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in phrases such as “only way to get rid” and “constructing bridge.” Punctuation and spacing around commas and full stops are inconsistent, and some sentences join separate ideas without clear boundaries. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea, then add subordinate clauses once the basic structure is secure.
