Student answer (Band 5.5)

The most significant goal of sceince should be elevate human's life. I agree with this statement because sceince can make contribution in medical sector which will benefit people and It finds new discoveries which play a role to prosper human knowledge.

The main reason is, sceince contains the power to create or produce new wonders which helps human race. Sceince can research and experiment new ideas . Scientists run their ideas and theories with trials to make people's life easier. For intance, during covid scientists made a vaccine which helped people around the world to fight against covid virus. Moreover scientists also working with human metabolis , how does human sell works against the virus. In south asian countries there was a extreme virus called nipa virus spread like a fire but later with the help of new vaccine and medical resources government could control it.

Another reason is science has the resources, adequate funds and capabilities to know the unkowns. Sceintists try to discover about new species on earth also research on how we are floating in this milkyway galaxy. The curosity of finding mysteries about human kind. For an example , scientists find out a new frog which is extremly rare and never seen before and that leads a new discovery to wild life. Few years ago some scientist find out a jellyfish which lives deep into the ocean has no brain in it but still alive and can live for hundreads years.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you give relevant reasons involving medical advances and new discoveries. The COVID vaccine example supports the practical benefit of research, while the examples of newly identified species illustrate science’s contribution to knowledge. However, the second reason is less directly connected to improving people’s lives: the frog and jellyfish discoveries are interesting, but you do not explain how such knowledge benefits people. The essay therefore addresses the prompt, though some ideas are less fully developed than others. To strengthen the response, explain the human value of discovery—for example, how studying species can support conservation or reveal useful medical knowledge—and develop your position beyond the opening and conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Another reason,” and “In conclusion” help signal the progression. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The sentence “The curiosity of finding mysteries about human kind” is a fragment and does not clearly connect to the preceding point. The examples in the second body paragraph also move from species discovery to a jellyfish without explaining how they support the main argument. Improve cohesion by making each paragraph’s central claim explicit, linking each example back to it, and using clear reference words so readers can follow how the evidence supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “medical sector,” “theories,” “vaccine,” “species,” and “discoveries,” which allows you to discuss both health and scientific knowledge. Some less common expressions are used, but inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling reduce precision. For example, “elevate human’s life” and “make contribution in medical sector” are not natural combinations; “human metabolism” and “human cells” appear to be intended where you write “human metabolis” and “human sell.” There are also repeated misspellings such as “sceince,” “unkowns,” and “curosity.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common academic collocations, while choosing precise terms rather than relying on broad phrases such as “new wonders.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at more complex structures, including “because science can…” and “which helped people…”. The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical control are noticeable. For example, “The main reason is, science contains…” has faulty punctuation and clause structure, while “Scientists run their ideas and theories with trials” does not form a clear grammatical relationship. There are also problems with agreement and verb forms, as in “new wonders which helps” and “scientists also working.” Some sentences are fragments, including “The curiosity of finding mysteries about human kind.” Practise complete sentence patterns, subject–verb agreement, and consistent verb forms, then proofread punctuation and articles.
