Student answer (Band 5.0)

harmful and beneficial impact.

To begin with, the best invention of science is light, life are easiest from the light. For instance, few years ago architectures made huge buildings without elevator. its a beneficial things for people but some time people faced many complication in unfortune seen. However, by the using of light infrastructures made elevators in the apartment. These are made life very easier.

On the other hand, the determinantal effect of science is technology device, not for everyone moreover for children. Such as, mobile phones destroy physical activity of youngsters. All members live in under the umbrella but they are engaged on social media. Although, Parents have a lot of work due to this they unaware from all activity which their children do in mobile. They connect with game that would be harmful for them.

In conclusion, science aim is make our life easier but mostly people use everything for own sake, if they use invention in positive way so it would be beneficial for individuals

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a relevant, partly qualified position: you agree that science can improve life, while noting that inventions may also cause harm. The examples of elevators and children’s mobile-phone use relate to the topic, but the first is difficult to follow and does not clearly explain how science improves people’s lives; the second focuses more on social-media habits than on science’s broader aims. Your conclusion repeats the general position without resolving how important this aim should be compared with other purposes of science. The response is also below the required 250 words, so there is not enough development of your reasons or examples. Explain your position more directly and extend each example with a clear cause-and-effect link.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. Phrases such as “To begin with” and “On the other hand” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the move from buildings without elevators to “the using of light infrastructures” is unclear, and the mobile-phone paragraph shifts between children, parents and social media without clearly connecting these points. Some linking words, including “Although,” are used in ways that do not create a complete or logical connection. Organise each body paragraph around one main idea, then explain and illustrate it in sequence; use referencing and transitions only where their relationship is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “beneficial impact,” “physical activity,” “social media” and “invention,” and you try to express both positive and negative effects. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make meaning unclear. For example, “the most curtail purpose” does not convey the intended idea, “life are easiest from the light” is difficult to interpret, and “determinantal effect” is not the appropriate expression for a harmful consequence. Spelling and word-form errors such as “unfortune” and “architectures” also reduce precision. Build a reliable set of phrases for discussing scientific aims and consequences, and check that each word fits its context and grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and subordinate clauses, for example, “Although I partially agree with this statement because everything has harmful and beneficial impact.” However, complex structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed, and the range remains limited. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in “science aim is make” and “life are easiest”; articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “a beneficial things.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention, particularly where “Although” begins a sentence without a main clause. These problems sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add one clear subordinate clause at a time, checking subjects, verbs, articles and punctuation.
