Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays we all see that science and technology are improving themselves day by day. As developments in both science and technologies are happening rapidly on daily basis like every new day bring some new challanges and developments in this field. So, science is actually making our lives better with the passage of each day.

First of all, I believe that the main goal of science and technology is to improve people's lives because all the inventions and creations happening are only to make people's lives easy and more comfortable. Those who are working in different fields of science and technology and made some developments in these fields are doing this only because they want to provide best and more comfortable lives to the mankind. It seems that their only goal is to make people's lives more better and good than the previous day.

Furthermore, in my opinion all these developments which were made in the field of science and technology are only for the purpose of making our lives much more comfortable and good. As in recent times there are lot of inventions and developments had been made in AI are only to benefit the people who are living on earth. As Ai which is a part of science and technology just made our daily life tasks much more easier nowadays. We feel much relaxed as we do not have to write everything by our own hands. In simple words every creation related to science that had been made recently is only to benefit normal people.

In conclusion, I would say that I am totally agree with the statement that the main goal or the aim of science is to make people's lives better and work on it can make thier lives more improved and relaxed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you maintain this view in the introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion. You also give a relevant example by referring to AI and its effect on everyday tasks. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because it mainly repeats the claim that science makes life easier, rather than explaining the reasons in depth or considering what “most important aim” means. The AI example is vague: explain a specific application and how it benefits people. You could also acknowledge other aims, such as expanding knowledge, then explain why human welfare should take priority. This would make your argument more fully developed and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “First of all,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of your argument. However, progression is limited because both body paragraphs make much the same point about comfort and convenience, without clearly distinct supporting reasons. Some links are mechanical, and the opening sentence beginning “As developments…” is not smoothly connected to the sentence before it. Referencing is also repetitive: “these developments” and “all these developments” do not introduce new steps in the argument. Give each paragraph a separate focus, such as healthcare and communication, and use linking phrases to show how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “inventions,” “developments,” “AI” and “comfortable,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “people’s lives,” “developments” and “comfortable.” Some combinations are unnatural, such as “make people’s lives more better” and “benefit normal people,” while “on daily basis” is not expressed idiomatically. There are also spelling and word-form errors, including “challanges,” “thier” and “Ai.” Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check common collocations; this will help you express benefits beyond general comfort and make the argument sound more natural and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and errors occur often enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to follow. For example, “As developments … are happening rapidly … like every new day bring” is an incomplete and structurally confused sentence; “there are lot of inventions … had been made” combines incompatible constructions; and “I am totally agree” uses the wrong verb pattern. There are also errors with articles, agreement and plurals, as in “a lot of inventions” and “every new day brings.” Build accuracy first with clear subject–verb structures, then add subordinate clauses. Proofread each sentence for a complete main clause and consistent verb forms.
