Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you completely agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you give relevant examples involving dams, agriculture, electricity and everyday activities. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the ideas are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported in detail. For instance, the dam example lists possible uses but does not show clearly how scientific knowledge produced these benefits. The everyday-life paragraph also repeats the main claim without developing a specific example. The response contains 241 words, so it is 9 words below the required minimum; this limits the space available to develop your reasons. Extend each main point with a clear explanation and a specific, relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “In another hand” and “In a conclusion” help signal the stages of your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is limited: the second body paragraph moves through morning activities in a list, rather than building one developed point. The repeated claim that science improves lives also makes the argument feel repetitive, and some links are unclear, particularly the connection between dams and the broader role of science. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s distinct focus, then connect explanations and examples with clear referencing rather than repeating the same conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small range of topic-related vocabulary, including “agriculture,” “construction,” “generating electricity” and “civilization,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the vocabulary is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “belive,” “inportant,” “fildd” and “sim.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “take a lot of helps” and “21st generation.” Repetition of “science and technology” and “improve people’s lives” further restricts the range. Build accuracy with common academic collocations and vary repeated terms where appropriate; for example, refer to “scientific advances” or “technological developments” when the meaning fits.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, the range is limited, and attempts to combine ideas often contain frequent errors that can make the reader pause. Examples include “human being create and develop science,” “its have an important in each and every field,” and “the important aim … is to be improve.” These show problems with subject–verb agreement, sentence construction and verb forms. Articles and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “play an vital role” and the run-on opening sentence. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a correctly formed supporting clause, then check agreement, articles and sentence boundaries.
