Student answer (Band 5.5)

The most significant purpose of science should better people lives. I completely agree this view, and this statement will explain why I hold that opinion.

Firstly, biological science improves individuals lives through produce medicine and treatment of the diseases. This is because older people died due to lack of medicine, now with the help of science every kind of diseases medicine and treatments available. For instance, big group of people died due to heart disease, lung and liver issues now doctors save these kind patients and even surgey. As a result, improvement of science related to our health is huge impact of out life.

Secondly, with the help of physics science our distace is too short. This is because last century people travel in hourse, or even walk long distance to meet their relatives, now individuals visit anywhere even other countries within hours easily through cars, bikes, and planes. For example, I heared public went in haj through ships, that journey was so horrible and many days required towards their distination. So, airoplanes easy their journey and within three to four hours, religious people reaches their distination. As a result, science helps in our daliy live.

Such as, our environment is pollutant due to smoke from the transport. State installed electronic buses in many cities due to reduce smoke and now our enviroment is controls from smoke air.

To sum up, I firmly believe that science improves our health, and reduced long distance because people died from some diseases, and travel long distance after that ill.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you completely agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you give relevant examples involving medicine and faster travel. These points address the topic, but the explanation is limited and sometimes unclear. For example, the medical paragraph lists diseases and treatments without explaining how this supports the claim that improving lives should be science’s most important aim. The travel example is more specific, but its connection to the central argument could be made more explicit. The paragraph about pollution introduces another relevant benefit, yet it is brief and does not explain the example fully. To strengthen the response, develop each reason with a clear explanation and a precise example, and maintain a clear focus on why improving lives should take priority.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on health and travel, a further point about pollution, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “As a result” help signal the main points. However, progression is uneven: the pollution point begins with “Such as,” making its relationship to the previous paragraph unclear, and the conclusion repeats the health and travel ideas without clearly drawing them together. Some linking phrases are also used mechanically, and references such as “these kind patients” are not fully clear. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, connect the example directly to that reason, and use transitions that show the precise relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use topic-related vocabulary such as “medicine,” “treatment,” “heart disease,” “transport,” and “environment,” so the reader can identify your main examples. However, the range is limited, and inaccurate word choice, collocation, word forms, and spelling sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “better people lives,” “our distace is too short,” “environment is pollutant,” and “science helps in our daliy live.” Some expressions, including “big group of people” and “easy their journey,” are not natural in this context. Build a more precise range for discussing benefits and impacts, and check spelling and common word partnerships. For instance, use “improve people’s lives,” “reduce travel time,” and “make journeys easier.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, often using “because,” “now,” and “as a result” to explain causes and outcomes. However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. The opening sentence, “The most significant purpose of science should better people lives,” is missing a grammatical structure; “should be to improve people’s lives” would be clearer. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and verb forms, as in “every kind of diseases medicine and treatments available” and “religious people reaches.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention, particularly where several ideas run together. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then build longer sentences while checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete clauses.
