Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people argue that the important goal of science is to develop the lives of the people. Although science can be a disadvantages to people when misused, I firmly believe that with the appropriate use of science, people can live a longer and comfortable life.
Arguably, many people use science inappropriately for personal gain and power. Undoubtedly, it creates unsafe environment and create a conflict between countries. For example, the government use explosive devices against a country to win a war and establish power which ultimately disrupts its community and people.
However, science, when used appropriately, is seen to help many individuals for the reason that it conveniently assists them in their daily living. For instance, the use of technology is convenient nowadays as people can communicate better by using a mobile device and an internet. Additionally, science helps with development of infrastructure that are made by scientists and inventors; such as electric cars, buses, and trains which is good for the environment. As a result, living is easier for the people and at the same time boosting one's economy.
Moreover, scientists develop new medications that can cure several diseases thus helping those with rare conditions. In fact, as science and technology advances, creation of new lines of medications are also increasing. For instance, medical professionals can now treat several patients because of new treatments. As a result, a healthy society and better healthcare industry.
In conclusion, as science continue to develop overtime, it should be used appropriately and not abuse it by those who seek power. I firmly believe that science should be used in good faith by professionals in order to help those who needs it, as it is beneficial for improving the lives of the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you agree that science should improve people’s lives, while acknowledging that it can be harmful when misused. The response addresses the question with relevant examples, including communication technology, transport, and medical treatments. This gives the argument a sound foundation. However, the discussion of misuse focuses mainly on warfare and is less developed than the benefits; explain more directly how this qualification affects your overall view. Some supporting points also need clearer explanation—for example, the link between infrastructure and “boosting one's economy” is asserted rather than demonstrated. To strengthen the response, develop each example with a specific explanation of how it improves people’s lives and maintain a clear distinction between science itself and its misuse.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, body paragraphs consider misuse and benefits, and the conclusion restates your position. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Moreover,” and “As a result” help readers follow the main stages of the argument. Some connections are less smooth or precise, though. For instance, “As a result, a healthy society and better healthcare industry” is a fragment and does not clearly connect the preceding example to a complete conclusion. The transport and economic points also move quickly from one idea to another. Use cohesive devices to show the exact relationship between claims, and make sure each paragraph develops one central point before moving on.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “inappropriately,” “infrastructure,” “rare conditions,” and “medications.” These choices help communicate ideas about science, society, and healthcare. There are also some imprecise or unnatural expressions, such as “develop the lives of the people,” “creates unsafe environment,” and “new lines of medications.” Repetition of “science,” “people,” and “help” limits flexibility, while “good for the environment” is rather general. These issues do not prevent understanding, but more accurate collocations and specific wording would make the argument more precise. Practise topic-related phrases such as “improve quality of life,” “pose a threat,” and “medical treatments,” and vary repeated terms where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including the concession “Although science can be…” and the conditional phrase “when used appropriately.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and several sentences are incomplete. Examples include “science can be a disadvantages,” “the government use,” and “infrastructure that are made,” which show problems with agreement and number. The final sentence of the healthcare paragraph, “As a result, a healthy society and better healthcare industry,” lacks a main verb. Articles and plural forms also need attention. Review subject–verb agreement, countable nouns, and sentence completeness, then proofread each sentence to ensure it has a clear subject and finite verb.
