Student answer (Band 5.5)
I completely disagree with the statement that the most important aim of science should be to make people's lives easy and it's goal should be to improve their way of living. This essay will explain the reasons for it.
One major reason to disagree with the statement is that if science only focus on improving people's lives. It will invent new products and gadgets almost everyday for people to use in daily life and during work then people will become lazy as we can see that this is happening in China because they have very advance technology so they buy robots and gadgets for their daily work that should be done by human. Science has already developed so much that people are becoming dependent on it for small tasks For example, students use different artificial intelligence apps like google gemini and meta ai for solving questions from their subjects that are supposed to check their IQ but students use those apps and do not use their own brains that is not good for them. Futhermore, people do not go for a walk outside the house in gardens and breath fresh air they rather prefer treadmill for walking and running.
Another reason is that if science only focus on improving lives it will make more people jobless because the more machines it will invent the more need of human worker decreases.
In conclusion, science should focus on making people's lives better but it should be used in some limits and it should not make people lazy and so dependent on it that even little task feels difficult to do by themsleves.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you disagree that improving people’s lives should be science’s most important aim, and you give relevant concerns about dependence, reduced physical activity and job losses. The examples involving students’ use of AI and treadmills help illustrate your argument. However, the response does not fully resolve the question: the conclusion says science should improve lives, but only “in some limits,” leaving your actual extent of disagreement somewhat unclear. The claim about technology in China is broad and would be more convincing with a specific, explained example. Also, the essay mainly describes possible harms rather than explaining what other aims science should prioritise. Clarify your position and develop each reason with more precise support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from dependence on technology to possible job losses, and signposts such as “One major reason,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. However, the first body paragraph contains several examples in one long sequence, so the relationship between them is not always clearly managed. The second reason is much shorter and receives little explanation, making the development uneven. Some connections are also mechanical, particularly the repeated “if science only focus” construction. Separate and explain the examples more clearly, and use linking phrases that show cause and consequence rather than relying mainly on basic signposts.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “dependent,” “artificial intelligence,” “jobless” and “human worker.” The examples also give you opportunities to discuss technology and its effects. However, the range is limited and some wording is imprecise or repetitive: “improving people’s lives” and “make people’s lives better” recur, while “gadgets” and “small tasks” remain general. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as “Futhermore,” “advance technology” and “goal.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and control. Aim for more specific terms, such as “automation,” “physical inactivity” and “employment opportunities,” and check spelling and collocations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if science only focus on improving people’s lives” and a relative clause in “students use different artificial intelligence apps … that are supposed to check their IQ.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but errors in agreement, sentence boundaries and punctuation recur. For example, “science only focus” should be “science only focuses,” and the opening sentence joins two independent ideas with “and” without a clear structure. The long sentence beginning “It will invent new products” also needs clearer punctuation and clause control. There are some errors with articles and possessives, including “it's goal” for “its goal.” Practise accurate complex sentences and proofread agreement and punctuation.
