Student answer (Band 5.5)
The crucial purpose of science should be to upgrade the individuals life. I completely see eye to eye with this statement because it will assist us to improve our lifestyle.
It is a fact that science has become a part of our lives. They guide us to the things in a accurate way. It gives us the contemporary devices for our defence. It produced scientists through which atom bomb was invented. They invented it in case of emergence or World War. Nevertheless, individuals are not using it wisely. For instance, in the war between America and Japan, America dropped atom bomb on it. The result was that it destoyed every single thing. Nowadays, disabled children are born there. It is suffering from the result that which they are not responsible for. That's why we should make proper use of science.
Conversely, it has numerous benefits. It gives people awareness about the drawbacks of unhealthy food. Due to this, people will only eat the healthy diet and maintained a balance lifestyle. Science also tell people about the causes and effects of the diseases. In addition to this, it also gives us the precautions about those diseases. It also tell us about the detrimental effects of smoking, drugs and many other injurious activities. If people are aware about all of these, it will assist them to avoid all these things from their life that can cause a danger to their life.
In conclusion, I say that it depends on the human that they are using it in a erroneous or a right way. Everything has a positive and negative impact. If we want a better lifestyle, we should adopt the positive use of science and always learn the new things from it that upgrade our living.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that science should improve people’s lives, and the conclusion returns to the idea that its effects depend on how people use it. You address both harmful and beneficial consequences, using the atomic bomb and health information as relevant examples. However, the response does not consistently explain why improving lives should be science’s most important aim. The discussion of the bomb focuses on misuse and its consequences, while the health paragraph lists benefits without developing how they support your central argument. Extend these points with clearer reasoning and more precise examples, and connect each paragraph explicitly to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs on harmful and beneficial effects, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a general route through your ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and links can feel mechanical. For example, “Conversely” introduces benefits after the paragraph about the bomb, but the relationship between these two sides is not fully explained. References such as “They” and “it” in the discussion of scientists, the bomb, and Japan are also unclear. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, make pronoun references explicit, and connect examples to the argument rather than relying mainly on linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “contemporary devices,” “drawbacks,” “precautions,” and “detrimental effects,” which helps you discuss science and health. However, several choices are unnatural or imprecise, such as “upgrade the individuals life,” “see eye to eye with this statement,” and “in a erroneous or a right way.” These expressions sometimes make the intended meaning less clear, and repeated use of general words such as “things” and “life” limits precision. Spelling errors, including “destoyed,” also affect accuracy. Aim for natural academic collocations and check spelling; choose vocabulary that expresses the specific idea rather than substituting formal-sounding words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple sentences and some attempts at more complex structures, including “If people are aware about all of these, it will assist them…” and “Everything has a positive and negative impact.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. Examples include “Science also tell people” and “it also tell us,” where the verb does not agree with the subject, and “in a accurate way,” where the article is incorrect. The sentence beginning “It is suffering from the result that…” is also difficult to follow grammatically. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and build complex sentences with clear clauses and references.
