Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is broadly clear: you agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you support this with examples from medicine and communication. The discussion of polio vaccination and Covid-19 is relevant, as is the point that the internet helps people stay connected. However, the response only partially develops the question of whether this should be science’s most important aim. The recommendations about monitoring children’s internet use and equal access to science are introduced but not explained or linked clearly to your argument. Some claims, such as science having “no illicit idea behind it,” are also unclear. To strengthen the response, explain why improving lives should take priority and develop each example with accurate, specific reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response moves from a stated position to examples, recommendations and a conclusion. Headings such as “Case study” and “Conclusion” help identify sections, and “In addition” signals another point. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear. The numbered recommendations interrupt the discussion and are not connected to the central argument, while the medical example contains several ideas in one difficult-to-follow passage. Connections between sentences are sometimes missing or unclear, and the conclusion largely repeats the opening claim rather than drawing the points together. Use focused paragraphs, with one main idea in each, and add clear links explaining how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “medical science,” “lethal diseases,” “technology,” and “availability,” and the examples show an effort to discuss science in different areas. However, the range is limited and many spelling, word-form and collocation errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “unevitale,” “relainace,” “battement,” and “speady progress”; phrases such as “the distance of one click” and “droping couple of drops” are also unnatural. Some wording is imprecise, including “special child” and “the given number,” which leaves the intended meaning uncertain. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, such as “improve people’s lives,” “make progress,” and “administer a vaccine.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, for example the sentence beginning “Due to progress in medical science,” but control is inconsistent. Frequent errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms can make meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “Science have been the part,” “Science playes,” and the fragment-like opening, “Science plays and crucial role … which is unevitale.” The long sentence about vaccination combines several actions without clear grammatical relationships, and punctuation does not reliably separate ideas. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using clauses such as “because” and “which.” Check subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence boundaries during revision.
