Student answer (Band 5.5)
Science and technology plays a vital role in our lives. The goal of science is to better the lives of people and make everything thing easier for them. I am agree with this statement because science make several changes in field like technology, education, communication, transportation and in food production.
As compared to past, doctorscan diagnose a disease well and can treat it properly.Furthermore,we can communicate through long distances through scientific inventions.Modern engineering allow us to cross oceans in hours.Enviromental science allow us to monitor weather, detect diasasters and protect us from endangered ecosystem.
Where there are advantage of science there are also some people that misused them.
For example Advanced machinery has gas drastically accelerated deforestation, polluted oceans and make air polluted.
While CRISPR technology can cure diseases but its misuse can lead to unregulated genetic modification like artificial babies.
In conclusion, there are lots of benefits that science provide us but some people make misuse them for their sake. Government should make strict laws and terms to genetic laborities, punish cyber criminals. Check scientific laborities and provide license to them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You take a relevant position by agreeing that science should improve people’s lives, and you give examples from medicine, communication, transport and environmental science. You also acknowledge risks, including deforestation and misuse of CRISPR, so the response addresses both benefits and concerns. However, the position is not developed consistently: the opening says science’s goal is to make life easier, but the conclusion shifts mainly to regulation without explaining how this qualifies your agreement. Several examples are listed rather than explained, and the response does not fully develop why improving lives should be science’s most important aim. The response is also below the required 250 words. Develop fewer examples with clear explanations and connect the risks back to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, examples of benefits, a paragraph on misuse, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of your argument. However, progression between ideas is limited, and some links are abrupt. For example, the move from environmental science to “Where there are advantage of science” introduces a contrast, but the sentence is unclear and does not smoothly connect the examples. The benefits paragraph also presents several points in quick succession without showing how they support the central claim. Use clear topic sentences, group related examples, and explain each point before moving on. A more developed conclusion should summarise your position rather than introduce several new recommendations.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “diagnose,” “deforestation,” “CRISPR technology,” and “genetic modification,” which helps convey the subject matter. There is also an attempt to use a range of expressions, such as “scientific inventions” and “unregulated.” However, the vocabulary range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “everything thing easier,” “diasasters,” “genetic laborities,” and “make air polluted.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “for their sake.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning natural combinations such as “reduce air pollution” and “laboratories conducting genetic research.” Aim for precise wording rather than adding more technical terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and more complex structures, including a contrast with “While CRISPR technology can cure diseases…” and a reason introduced by “because.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “Science and technology plays” should use a plural verb, while “I am agree” has an incorrect verb form. In “Modern engineering allow us,” the subject and verb do not agree, and “Where there are advantage” has errors in both the structure and plural form. Missing spaces after full stops also affect readability. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete sentence patterns first, then use a wider range of complex sentences with careful proofreading.
