Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people thinks that the most important aim of science should be to improve peoples life. I strongly agree with this because modern science also helps our life easier in different ways but it has also some demerits too. However, the percentage of this is lower.

First of all, technologies made our life faster ,we can solve any kind of problems within a second. For example : Internet is one of the most advanced creations of modern science by which we can connect to the entire world, also share news, important documents, gather knowledge from different sources(facebook, goggle) etc. This help us to improve our skills and apply them to create somethings new. Secondly, modern science has a great role in the medical sector which helps us to give advanced treatments to the patients in nowdays for example : CT scan MRI resonance for this the people can get health related result in a few times. This is also made the life of a patients too much happier beacuse he/she can get the treatment very soon.

On the other hand, everythings has its dark side . Although ,modern science hav also its. some portions of people also engaged themself in a vast portion of negative work for example : copyright something, hacking information etc ,which causes a great trouble in our day to day life when we are engaged in corporate job sectors or others also. But , nowdays goverment also take percautions against them and people in now days also aware of it. So that, the output of its negative impact is also lower.

In conclusion, science in a such a blessings for human life and we should use them peoperly for harm others. I think ,if we use them safely it helps to improve peoples life .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you give relevant examples from communication and medicine. The internet example explains how science can connect people and support learning, while the medical example shows how diagnostic technology can help patients receive treatment sooner. You also acknowledge harmful uses such as hacking, which adds some balance. However, the response only partially develops the argument: the claim that science’s negative effects are a smaller proportion is asserted rather than supported, and the conclusion’s phrase “use them safely it helps” does not clearly explain how this supports your position. To strengthen the response, explain why improving lives should be science’s primary aim and develop each example with clearer cause-and-effect reasoning. The 10 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two main paragraphs presenting benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several points are joined into long, crowded sentences, particularly the internet example. Some links are also unclear or mechanical: “However, the percentage of this is lower” does not specify what “this” refers to, and “So that” does not form a clear connection to the preceding point. Use shorter units to separate examples and explanations, and make references explicit—for instance, state directly that harmful uses are less common or less significant, if that is what you mean.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “advanced creations,” “medical sector,” “treatments,” “copyright,” and “hacking.” These choices make the general subject understandable, and you attempt to discuss both benefits and risks. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “made our life faster,” “get health related result,” and “a such a blessings.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “goggle,” “beacuse,” and “peoperly,” also reduce precision. Aim to learn common academic collocations and check spelling and forms before submitting. More precise expressions for scientific benefits and risks would help you communicate your ideas with less effort for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “Internet is … by which we can connect” and a concession beginning “Although.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur throughout. Examples include “Some people thinks,” “This help us,” “modern science hav,” and “This is also made the life.” The final sentence also needs a clearer conditional structure: “if we use them safely, it helps” mixes plural reference with a singular verb. Punctuation around clauses and sentence boundaries is inconsistent, making some ideas harder to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and past/present forms, then build longer sentences from correctly controlled clauses.
