Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a partial response to the question and state a position—“i partially agree”—but the essay does not explain clearly what limits your agreement. The examples about medicine, the internet, agriculture and transport are relevant to how science improves lives, and the medical treatments and online services provide some support. However, the body paragraphs mostly list benefits rather than explain their effects in detail. The second paragraph begins “On the other hand” but continues with further benefits, so it does not present a genuine counterargument or clarify the extent of your disagreement. To strengthen the response, explain what other aims science should serve, or what risks or limitations qualify its role, and connect each example directly to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help identify its parts. However, progression between ideas is limited: the second body paragraph is introduced as an opposing view, yet it adds more advantages, which makes the argument difficult to follow. Several linking expressions are also used mechanically or do not show the intended relationship, as in “Because” beginning a sentence and “Hence” before a broad conclusion. The conclusion introduces “merits and demerits” although the essay has not developed any demerits. Organise the body around distinct reasons that support your stated partial agreement, and use transitions that accurately express contrast, cause or result.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “medical industry,” “modern treatments,” “crop production,” “machinery” and “transportation,” so the reader can identify the areas you intend to discuss. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “The significant reason” and “contributions.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “science,” “important” and “benefits,” while several word combinations are inaccurate or unclear: “develop individuals lives,” “difficult issue completely solve easily” and “need another information.” These choices sometimes make the meaning hard to interpret. Build precision by learning common collocations—for example, how to describe improving quality of life, solving problems and providing access to information—and avoid “etc.” in formal examples.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional-style explanation beginning “when people face serious health issues” and clauses introduced by “while.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors affect clarity. Examples include “science has develop,” “population used,” and “science has made many contribution,” which show problems with verb forms, tense and agreement. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention: “Because” is used as a fragment, and “Therefore” does not connect smoothly to the preceding sentence. Capitalisation is inconsistent, including “i” and “science” after a full stop. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and past participles, and build longer sentences from a clear main clause with correctly attached supporting clauses.
